Dennis Kucinich's Book: A Prayer for America
Edited on Tue Sep-25-07 05:03 PM by MissWaverly
Pages 4 and 5: Economic democracy is a condition of political democracy. The defense of economic rights of the weak is an essential part of renewing the great spirit of our nation. We must firmly establish a political agenda based on economic justice for each and every individual. Big business, big government and big media are all out of touch with mainstream America. They do not know how thoroughly disappointed, utterly disgusted, and fed up ordinary people are. They are unaware how readily myths can be toppled."

here's what Granny D says about Dennis Kucinich:

"When I walked 3,200 miles across the United States for campaign reform and inquired of people why they were not voting, they said:
'Find us someone who understands us, who cares about us.' I'm talking about people living in trailers, people living in small towns with boarded up windows on Main Street...I promised to look for someone who would understand them, that had a vision of the future for them, that believed in Peace, Love, Justice. Well, here he is: Dennis Kucinich."

6. the amazing thing is I understand everything he says
is he in favor of signing the Kyoto accord, Yes!

is he in favor of banning nuclear weapons, Yes

with the others, I am not so sure, I find myself thinking later, did X really commit to ending the war, really,
or was it an ambiguous if conditions are ripe wheeze.

9. I am posting this every chance I get so everyone can educate themselves...
before they vote. This is Clintons take on the war from July 10th in Iowa, sounding as if we have to get out, making them think she will and then the next one is her this past Sunday. You decide what it means and if more lives will be lost? First one sounds like she will get us out and the latest one sounds like spin and just like the Bush strategy of lets see what happens? We need out of this deadly war.

This is from her speech on July 10th :

As a result of these failures, the next President will inherit some of the greatest foreign policy challenges in our history. Rising terrorism and extremism. Frayed alliances. And the increasingly difficult task of restoring American leadership in a world that has come to view our nation with suspicion and mistrust.

We cannot effectively address any of these challenges if we continue our military engagement in Iraq. As long as we stay there, our military strength will continue to erode. Our standing in the world will continue to decline. Our enemies in the region will continue to exploit our failures. Our occupation will continue to serve as a recruitment tool for terrorists. Our support for Afghan democracy, our conflict with the Taliban, and our hunt for al Qaeda will continue to be compromised. And our brave men and women will continue to lose their lives and suffer grievous wounds

And now she has this position after her Sunday morning show appearances.

Asked by ABC's George Stephanopoulos whether she would withdraw all U.S. troops from Iraq during a first term as president, Clinton (D-N.Y.) gave a simple answer: She did not know.

but she used more than 225 words to say so. "You know, I'm not going to get into hypotheticals and make pledges, because I don't know what I'm going to inherit, George. I don't know and neither do any of us know what will be the situation in the region. How much more aggressive will Iran have become?" Clinton said. "What will be happening in the Middle East? How much more of an influence will the chaos in Iraq have in terms of what's going on in the greater region? Will we have pushed al-Qaeda in Iraq out of their strongholds with our new partnership with some of the tribal sheiks or will they have regrouped and retrenched?

10. More talk yet saying nothing. Dennis never does that.
He just tells the truth and if he doesn't have an answer...he will find out.

I think that's called straight talk.

12. wait and see is okay but don't promise what is not possible
to deliver on, don't paint rosy pictures just to get our vote and then slam the door shut for 4 years and wine and dine
the war profiteers.

11. Yes, this is what I am thinking of
and I was not impressed with them playing hardball with GQ to suppress a critical article, praise and criticism should be both
handled, we can not have a president in a bubble.

3. he is
in my opinion the best candidate the Democrats have. He is a true economic leftist and a true social leftist. He is also out of touch with the corporations and the media, so I do not think the opinion makers will try to make a high opinion of him.

4. Pages 49-50 from a Prayer for America
Edited on Tue Sep-25-07 05:18 PM by MissWaverly
"I will tell you that nations around the world are waiting for America to participate in world efforts to deal with the challenge of global climate change. It's time we did! It's time that we ratified the Kyoto Agreement! It's time we worked for global reductions in nuclear arms! It's time we got rid of nuclear weapons! It's time we ended once and for all nuclear testing! It's time we began to have an International Criminal Court, a biological weapons convention, a chemical weapons convention, and to recognize in all areas that international cooperation is the path to the future. International cooperation is the path to peace. International cooperation is the path that all Americans want to take. We have to insist our leaders take us in that direction."

16. Thank you, I have been off reading his book
he so totally gets it, he says the Democrats should be about economics, not social issues, in the 1950s the corporations
paid 4.5% of the Gross Domestic Product, now they pay 1.3% and yet they have MORE influence than ever. That's why
he thinks there should be public campaign financing.

page 25 of "A Prayer for America" by Dennis Kucinich

One hundred years ago, Mayor Tom Johnson of Cleveland set the stage for the establishment of a municipally owned electric
company. His credo:

"I believe in the municipal ownership of all public service monopolies, for the same reason that I believe in the municipal ownership of waterworks, of parks, of schools. I believe in the municipal ownership of these monopolies because if you do not own them they will in time own you. They will rule your politics, corrupt your institutions and finally destroy your liberties."

You can put big oil up there in that quote, the effect is chilling.

18. thank you, one more quote, this time from page 47
this is from Dennis Kucinich book: "A prayer for America"

"America cannot and should not be the world's policemen. America cannot and should not try to pick the leaders of other nations. Nor should America and the American people be pressed into the service of international oil interests and arms dealers."

20. unfortunately, I am not a high roller but have sent him $$$
every little amount helps, even Rudy is charging 9.11 entry fee, is there any more ways they can cash in on the
suffering of that day, and they have the nerve to criticize the Moveon ad, at least Moveon did not try to
exploit the suffering of those who survived 9-11 for a buck.
