The Biden-Brownback-Boxer amendment passed the senate by an overwhelming bi-partisan majority. Only Obama and McCain failed to vote. And Russ Feingold was the only Democrat voting no.

This kind of results-oriented statesmanship is what the country have been waiting for.

Congratulations, President Biden.

2. It is an overwhelming bipartisan consensus on the political solution to Iraq
most importantly, it's the RIGHT ANSWER to the MOST IMPORTANT PROBLEM of the day.

3. A wish is not an answer.
Much of the "plan" has to do with Iraq enforcing its current laws ... or things that have long been in the works like the oil revenue sharing plan ... or things the US Congress simply has no control over.

I agree that it would be great if all this was adopted and actually worked (which I doubt), but this amendment doesn't actually change US or Iraqi policy. It simply can't.

4. Give it a chance!
Iraq is already divided- the Sunnis, Shiites, and Kurds are separating from each other on their own. Iraqi leaders are behind Biden's plan. Now that it's passed in Congress give them a chance to start implemenating it. Don't be such a nay-sayer. Can't you see what happened in Congress yesterday w/ Biden's plan getting 75 to 23 votes is huge??? That we can indeed work together in government w/ the right people in charge? This is so much more than that. This is a step in the right direction towards ending the war!

5. I t serves Bush notice that the senate
Democrats and Republicans no longer support his Iraq policy and opens the door to go forward and end this war. 75 votes is enough to over ride a veto. It is proof that with the right leadership,
the senate can come together and accomplish something good for our country.
IT IS HOPEFULLY THE BEGINNING OF THE END OF THE WAR.

6. And the beginning of the end
of Bush's stranglehold on Congress. Many republicans were looking for a way to start to distance themselves from Bush and his policies.

10. Well said - this was just as much about Bush as it was about what to do in Iraq.
