House Resolution Supporting Limbaugh
Oct 01, 2007 06:00pm
Description IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OCTOBER 1, 2007

Mr. KINGSTON submitted the following resolution
http://www.ourcampaigns.com/NewsDetail.html?NewsID=43588
Honoring all Americans serving in the Armed Forces of the United States and commending broadcaster Rush Limbaugh for his relentless efforts to build and maintain troop morale through worldwide radio broadcasts and personal visits to conflict regions.

Whereas the need to show support for American troops serving and fighting both here and abroad during a time of global conflict has never been greater, with the need to communicate an uplifting message of encouragement to American soldiers eternally important, in addition to the morale-boosting value of personal visits to combat region by highly-regarded individuals;

Whereas every American, to include service men and women and broadcasters, is entitled to free speech and the free exchange of ideas; Whereas daily radio broadcasts reaching tens of millions of civilians and soldiers both in America and abroad by way of the Armed Forces Radio Network are conducted five days a week by Rush Hudson Limbaugh III;

Whereas Mr. Limbaugh has consistently used his broadcast time to praise American troops and support them during their ongoing efforts to secure peace in a troubled world;

Whereas Mr. Limbaugh has met with troops in Afghanistan; raised and donated millions of dollars to the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation, which provides college scholarships to the children of Marines and veterans of other branches killed in action; features an “Adopt a Soldier” program which provides them with free subscription access to his online program features; and Whereas Mr. Limbaugh’s commitment to American troops serving both here and abroad remains as strong as ever: Now, therefore, be it Resolved by the House of Representatives, Section 1. The House of Representatives makes the following findings:

Why are we wasting time with these resolutions? If Our leaders in Congress can't get a handle on what is going on and making it to the floor how the hell are they going to get anything done?

10. General Clark said Congress should pass a resolution condeming what he said
since they're passing resolutions about what people say.

But I just can't believe anybody's got the nerve to even write this!!

12. Limbaugh should be inducted into the Army, by congressional
fiat and forced to serve on the front lines.

As a vet, I find it appalling that this COWARD be given any recognition.

This is one of the most disgusting things I've ever read.

Limbaugh has never sacrificed a thing for this country, I think he should be tarred and feathered, horsewhipped and sent to Gitmo for the rest of his miserable stinking life...:grr:

20. When I enlisted, there were many who covered up some malady
so that they could serve their country. A few times the Doc's picked up something, but mostly, they winked or looked the other way. We went in with the thought that we would serve our nation for a few years, (some went on for a very long time), and we would have fulfilled an obligation to a nation that we are a part of. This might seem like a noble ideal...it is.

When I see/listen to slugs like Limbaugh discuss anything about the military, I am immediately reminded of the fact that he has never once sacrificed anything for this nation...not time, not money, not a damn thing. All he has done is take advantage of whatever he could to ensure he became wealthy and "powerful". His wealth is real, but his power is delusional. I came up through the enlisted ranks, did pretty well for myself, I made it to Medical Platoon Sergeant. I have served with some of the bravest men and women this nation had to offer; rarely did I come across someone I would truly call a coward. Soldiers were scared, that is part of the job, but in virtually every encounter, they rose to the challenge and did their duty.

Limbaugh, Savage, Hannity, Coulter....the list goes on for eternity, are all cowards. They have never once put themselves in harms way for the good of the nation they were born in. They have asked, even demanded, that others be placed upon the sacrificial alter of war, but they cannot even contemplate themselves in a position where they would actually act upon what they require of others.

I believe the worst of the situation is that soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines are tossed into the void after their service. They are forgotten after all they have given up, they are left to fend for themselves after defending this nation, they are treated like crap. When did Limbaugh ever go quietly into a VA hospital and sit down w/those who have been blinded, faced a life after amputation of several limbs....offered solace to a family that has to look forward to a lifetime of caring for a service-member that has a traumatic brain injury? If he can't get publicity out of it, he just doesn't care.

I am reminded of a couple of years ago on C-SPAN when Cher quietly and with great dignity described what was going on w/vets in the VA. She did not even wish people to know it was her, until the host figured it out. That was a class act, and my respect for Cher rose dramatically. She, and so many other citizens quietly help where they can. Limbaugh only helps himself to whatever "candy" he can glean from a situation.

Sorry I'm so long winded, but this is one of those issues that really touches my heartstrings.

22. I'm with you, rasputin
warmongering chickenhawks offend me as a veteran, as an American and as a human being. I don't find fault with everyone who never served - I understand the military life is not for everyone. I do, however, have HUGE problem with these cowards (Ted Nugent comes to mind) who are content to let others do the fighting and dying while screaming treason at anyone who doesn't share their taste in warmongering. :puke:

23. I too understand that some do not wish to serve, that is their
right, I do not begrudge them in any way for the decision to stay out. However, when I see young people saying this war is "good", etc, I always ask them if they will go to the recruiter with me and pony up. No one ever has, but everyone of them stopped spouting off about war being "good", at least in my presence.

I had a few in my American Government class that thought this fiasco was "fine", our instructor allowed me to describe what military life, both peace and war, was like. When I heard one of the Chickenhawks say he was more interested in his education than joining, I told him the Arm,y would be more than happy to pay for his education while he was in the service, they even make time for you to go and to study; then, when he got out, he'd have a Bachelors and plenty of cash to pursue a Masters...no dice.

A couple of years ago, I got called a traitor in a Town Meeting w/my old congressman, Bereuter, by a man in the audience when I spoke out against the war mongering. The next meeting, I brought in my old uniform and my DD-214 and laid them on a chair. The same guy sat where he always did...and after a bit, left, looking ashamed. Others that knew him told me he never served, and fought to stay out during the Nam years. He lied about being the only support for his family. He apparently did most of that family support in local taverns while others were dying.

Thanks for the reply...we vets need to let people know that we are around, and we do care...:hug:

24. strange how people are brainwashed
to think that repukes support the troops, all evidence to the contrary. I too hassle people who salivate for war over their lack of military service - I just find it unseemly to let them get away with their crap. I'm a 50 year old gal and I love it when a repuke says to me WELL, DID *YOU* SERVE? and I can just throw it right back into their smug faces that YES I SERVED.
