One of the things that caused me heartbreak earlier in my life....
Edited on Mon Oct-08-07 11:38 PM by WCGreen
Is now almost a blessing...

You see Mrs. WCGreen and I wanted a family...

Both of us were ready, willing but unfortunately, unable to concieve...

We struggled a bit but eventually moved on...

Now, with the way things are evolving in this country and the world, I am almost glad that we couldn't have children...

For the first time since the country was born, our children will face a country that offers limited possibilities to hard working people...

We are on the brink of becoming not a meritocracy as the Clinton Clan wishes us to believe but a inheritocracy, if such a word exists...

The very environment that Teddy Roosevelt and the reformers fought hard to change at the beginning of the last century are back in full force at the dawn of this one...

There is almost a Rockefeller like gap between the rich and the rest of us...

And it's getting worse...

Add to all the marketplace manipulation the ceding of Constitution Rights to the false god of fear our "elected" representatives now worship, and we have the real potential for a very bleak future indeed...

I firmly believed that the last election was the one that would turn us around, bring us back to the days when people had a chance to get ahead, had freedom from government intrusion and start to end the economic divides that will ultimately lead, I firmly believe, to open class warfare...

But alas, they are giving up without a fight...

Someone once said we would go out with a whimper and not a bang...

I guess they foresaw this "democratic" congress...

So looking back I shed a tear for Mrs.WCGreen for not being able to conceive but I am almost, almost satisfied with the way things came out for us simply because I won't have a child's future to worry about...

2. I really thought we were at least slowing down the rush toward
the inevitable power grab...

But my guess is we are not...

11. I think people said the same in the great age of Greece.
Half think it is always the best of times and half do not think that way. Change is always with us. That is the one thing that does not get old. Right now I feel much like I am living in the 50's once more with the Red-batting. I guess we are sitting up another 40 years Cold War with the Middle East this time. Must be easy to run the govt. if you have some group to hate or something.

12. You've Got to Be Taught,,,,,
Cable:
You've got to be taught
To hate and fear,
You've got to be taught
From year to year,
It's got to be drummed
In your dear little ear
You've got to be carefully taught.

You've got to be taught to be afraid
Of people whose eyes are oddly made,
And people whose skin is a diff'rent shade,
You've got to be carefully taught.

You've got to be taught before it's too late,
Before you are six or seven or eight,
To hate all the people your relatives hate,
You've got to be carefully taught!

17. Have not thought of that song in years. So right.
Just think of all those nuts who have kids growing up in the far right church groups. Food for thought.

3. I feel so much sorrow over your struggle to have a child...
It is heartbreaking when a couple cannot fulfill their dreams...

But I hear what you're saying about the future of our country...

And I am alarmed at what I see...

We still need to keep fighting...

For many of us do have children, and even grandchildren...

For their sakes, and all our sakes...

We must rescue our country from those who would betray her for their own selfish ends...

6. Look at what we have become
I feel for you Mr.WCGreen.
I think about that as well.
I live pretty far away from my son and at times it hurts when I cant see him
as much as I would like.
That being said, I thank my lucky stars he lives in Toronto and is not an American citizen.
Sad to say it helps me sleep at night.

9. I have two little girls...

...and I worry a great deal about the future.

Our country is sliding into Fascism. We're in dire straights here. If
we can somehow turn this around and avoid the deep plunge into something
that resembles "1984", that's great.

However, what if we continue on this course? What if there is another terrorist
attack and Bush declares Marshall Law?

What if America as we know it, disappears? How will I explain that to my children?
How will future generations exist that way?

It's all very disheartening and heartbreaking.

I feel as if the America I grew up in, has died. I'm not sure that I am prepared
to help my kids function in this new America-if it comes to that.

I just hope that somehow--we can turn this all around within the next year. My
only hope at this point, is a Gore run and win.

10. The good news is there are a lot of people out there that are strong,
sturdy individualists that will keep going no matter what...

But I think the far reaching powers that hav been grabbed by the administration with the culpability of the "opposition" party are going to run far to deep and far to long...

16. I worry about my kids -
Ages 6 and 2. Their future is everything to me, that is way I'm so passionate about Edwards winning. Edwards is looking at the long view, and the future he sees is the one I want my children to live in.
