Impeachment, Davey Crockett, and Jim Bowie....
...The common bond being that the contemporaneous wisdom named all three as losers. Impeachment we are told, can never pass. That it will waste valuable time. That there are much more important matters for congress to consider.
Crockett and Bowie of course, were killed at the Alamo, where 200 men faced the army of thousands of Mexicans under Santa Ana whom wiped out the garrison to a man. The bodies of the defenders were burned and buried in a mass grave since they were considered as "bandits" engaged in an insurrection against the established government...That they died at the Alamo was no fluke-in the light of the odds it would have been more surprising had they won. But it WAS possible.
...Were impeachment undertaken tomorrow it's chances are close to 50/50 simply because half of Republicans recognize (in private) the guilt of Bush and Cheney and at least three quarters would like to distance themselves from the sinking ship that is the Bush White House. Even given this there are no guarantees of victory.
Doing certain things are right and if "right" alone were the standard this pall on our nation would have long since been cleared. But sometimes even doing right means you will be in the present, defeated and reviled. Yet the best will do the right and wait for their judgment by history. If you doubt this, Go to Texas and call Crockett and Bowie losers...
At the nexus of history, you will find that winning is less important than behaving well.

3. Well whatever the case is,
I certainly hope that at some point in our history that some investigation is made to determine how this country was hi-jacked into this useless war and exactly where in the hell did all the money go.

4. In fact that "established government" your brave insurrectionists
were fighting against had laws against slavery, and your pinche tejanos were fighting for their "freedom" to own slaves.

You might want to come up with a different example--but you'll still be wrong.

5. Sweet Heaven!
Here's a fellow who reads history. And he's correct. The story of the Alamo is not as cut and dry, people who love "freedom" as you may think...

6. Thanks, it's especially nice to hear it coming
from a Texan.

BTW, despite my screenname, I'm a New Mexican now--and I'm not a he. ;-)

7. Well Then My Regards ,,,,
next time I will be advised.

But you're right. The battle of the Alamo is not exactly what most people might think.
