7. heck of a lot of tombstones... even from old familiar names... to me that points to caution
per the vitriol folks spew at the candidates and their supporters during the heat of the primaries. I say that because many of the folks I saw on those threads who are now tombstoned, never struck me as freepers. Guessing instead that most were just so ardent for their guy that they crossed some lines when interacting with the supporters of some other guy...

10. I only wonder
how certain posters still with us today managed to avoid banning back then and to this day. Some of the worst offenders then are still the worst offenders.

Madness.

11. There is a strong urge to support the underdog among progressives.
It's kind of built-in to the philosophy. Looking out for the little guy. Empowering the disadvantaged. Anyone who becomes the frontrunner is de-facto "the system" that needs to be opposed.

12. A Lot Of Tombstones
Most of those tombstones were a result of folks attacking the Democratic nominee after he was chosen which was a direct violation of DU rules...

13. This belongs on the greatest page.
I didn't belong to DU back then and I have been wondering what it was like around here during that time.

15. Take note, all you newbies
THOSE were flamewars!

This back and forth on Hillary stuff is but a pale imitation.

Thanks for the stroll up Boot Hill, JD!

16. I wasn't here back then, but I wonder if those flamewars in 04
have something to do with the animosity between certain groups today. You guys sure had a big turnout for polls, wow.
