Regarding Positive or Negative Al Gore Columns From The Media
If I might humbly suggest after reading them, for the sake of broadening your perspective as to that columnist's motivation, history or job performance in covering Al Gore and for that matter Bush, please go to the Daily Howler Web Site and Google that person's name and either "War Against Gore" or "2000 debates". The same holds true for the pundits' opinions you may have heard on television.

I don't agree with all the Daily Howler's political assumptions, however I do believe they've done a good job of covering the media's coverage of the candidates, particularly the race in 2000.

1. My news paper printed a blogger's negative words about Gore today in the paper.
I checked out the guy's site ( www.wardsmythe.com )and he is a vicious right-wing cool-aide drinker. I don't know why my paper, the Virginian Pilot would print such drivel:

"Why is anyone really taking this man seriously?

He’s a buffoon and an alarmist. It’s one thing to be genuinely concerned about the environment, but Al Gore has turned this into a religion.

Does he think this is his ticket “back” to the White House?"

Above is what they printed about Gore. Just going to the dailyhowler and reading it makes me so mad. The media destroys people's reputation just for fun because they can. I do believe that Gore is smarter than them and could beat them at their own game. They can say whatever they want now but he has a train behind him that is unstoppable. He will run right over them with his high tech ability to reach the people and by-pass the MSM.

2. Thanks for the reply rainy, I've learned
to pay attention to the little things as well, the placement of letters to the editor, a word added or missing from a pundit during their divining to the masses, even the stand up comedians' jokes because some people actually get their take on the news from them.

One small example, last night on SNL's skit on Al Gore by Darrel Hammond, they made it out as if all Al Gore's awards were for "An Inconvenient Truth" even his Emmy which was actually for Al's Current Television Network, this is an important distinction, because Current T.V. represents the democratization of television, this is what I believe traditional one way television fears, they prefer telling everyone what is and what is not. I'm not sure they ever mentioned his Webby which was for his legislative work in turning the Internet in to what it is today because this may have drummed up too many memories of how traditional media slandered him over that issue for so long, there by enabling Bush to power.

I believe, now that it's becoming much more difficult for them to trash him the way they did on the Global Warming issue, they are making him out as if this is all he's about. This makes it easier for them to pigeon hole him in to a niche instead of his overall accomplishments as a leader and promote him for this feel good elder statesman role as opposed to an actual President with rational legal power to effect change.

4. At his point,
I can only put the odds at 50/50, I certainly hope he does. If he doesn't I pray, hope, wish and beg that he be drafted.
