Biden's National strategy for combatting breast cancer
“No woman should be turned away from early detection or treatment because she can’t pay for it,” remarked Sen. Biden.

“One of my highest honors is I’ve been named a Pink Ribbon Crusader by the Avon Foundation for my work to support breast cancer causes. And I was priviledged to have been awarded the Profiles In Progress Award as the national sponsor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

“And it’s not just me. My wife, Jill has received the Spouse’s Award from the Cancer Research Foundation of America for her twenty years of leadership on this issue.”

1. Biden has proven he cares about social issues
at home. Foreign affairs is critical and he is totally informed in that area. Why is he not getting attention? This guy is sincere. I am sincere. I care about foreign affairs, health care and research in the health and sciences, education, taxes, gifts to corps via tax breaks. Biden gets it. Watch his videos, is this guy not a straight arrow? Or is he a BSer? We must decide. He lacks the big bucks to go the "window dressing" route when campaigning. I feel as confident about him as I did about Clinton in 1992. Clinton wasn't perfect but he darn sure got more things right than any repub could even dream of. Biden fits our needs in this era.

2. He gets most of his attention because of his foreign affairs
expertise, but he is also on top of domestic issues as well. His sincerity is matched by his knowledge and experience.

4. How about prostate cancer?
Has he issued a statement about that? If not, why not?

6. I haven't been able to locate any such statement, for him or ANY of the candidates.
And you'll have to ask each of them why.

Why do you ask?

7. Because it's at least a great a problem
But it's not getting the publicity or the research dollars.

A candidate who's really concerned about serious social issues, including serious diseases and illnesses, wouldn't focus only on the ones that get the publicity.

And yes, this is the case with all the candidates.

8. I agree with you. I'll e-mail Biden's camp now and share our feelings. Jeez,
though, where does it end? There is SO MUCH cancer! Sigh.

9. Maybe it's a mistake to single out any one cancer
If we're going to have a national initiative against the disease, then it should cover all kinds. After all, the research should be applicable to all of them.

Or possibly I'm talking through my hat.

10. I think the problem lies in that each cancer is treated differently, so it may be
best to bring awareness to each kind and raise funding for that. A "cover all kinds" fund would probably be spread so thin it wouldn't help any of them much.

I'd like to find out WHY cancer is so prevalent these days (although I'm certain MY views that the environment, pesticides, processed foods are correct :7). At some point I hope we get to the place where we stop attacking the symptoms and try to alleviate the causes.

5. Thank you. I didn't know these things about Joe. Again, his heartfelt caring of
everyday people - us! - is so moving. What a good person he is.
