WHY THE IOWA SEIU CHOSE EDWARDS OVER HILLARY AND OBAMA...
From The Swamp today:

The Iowa chapter cited health care for supporting Edwards, who sits behind Clinton and Obama in national polls but is running stronger in Iowa.

"In Iowa, we are uniquely positioned to see and hear the candidates, and members are well informed on the issues important to working families," Iowa SEIU Local 199 President Cathy Glasson said in a press release. "John Edwards earned our support by taking a strong stand on health care and because he offers our members the greatest hope for restoring the American Dream."

1. Good for Edwards. Good for the SEIU.
I'm always pleased to see people talking about health care

2. At first I was dismayed that the SEIU did not give Edwards
a blanket endorsement. But now, I see this as a possible real advantage to both him and Labor.

Labor in this group can show it is more democratic than other groups by giving their districts more autonomy AND Edwards has the possiblility of a rolling series of endorsements state (or region) by state - giving him more justified good press as the primary season marches on.

I just hope that Hillary is "peaking" with early endorsements like the one from John Lewis (due to Bill?) and Obama is still not specific enough to win the trust of working people as regards to policies and already articulated by Edwards.

Obviously, I am an Edwards supporter.

3. Wasn't Hillary's health care plan almost identical to Edwards'?
It certainly wasn't clearly superior to the plans of other candidates. You'd think he'd be able to come up with a better reason than that.

4. Too bad she came out with a plan 8 months later
And it copied Edwards exactly.

She is a copycat, and not a leader.
