The Iraqi parliament recently declared that reconciliation (between Sunnis and Shias) is "off the table" and will never be "on the table".
Reconcililation was Bush's last excuse for remaining in Iraq.
After the lies about the pretexts for invading Iraq were exposed (WMDs, ties to Al Queda, harboring Al Queda, Saddam preparing to nuke us, implications Saddam was behind 9-11), Bush has shifted his justification for the war and our continued presence in Iraq so many times that if you're head's not spinning, it must be empty.
Then it was to capture Saddam. Then it was to try Saddam. Then convict him. Then execute him. Done, done, done and done.
Then it was to give Iraqis an election. Done.
Then it was to give them time to draft a constitution. Done.
Then it was to quell the violence by allowing the "surge" time to work. His own military mouthpiece testified last month that it "worked". so: Done.
Then it was to give them time to reconcile their differences.
The violence will never end while we're there, and there will be no reconciliation while we're there.
So what will be Bush's next excuse?
Will he have to begin telling the truth about the PNAC agenda??? Oil, military bases from which to launch invasions of Iran, Syria, and ultimately Saudia Arabia and Egypt?
I doubt it.
So what will be his next spin??? Al Queda, Al Queda, Al Queda, 9-11, 9-11, 9-11? Sorry, but he's already worn that empty excuse out for years.
My guess: We need our troops in Iraq to defend us to help us fight Iran.
(sound of my head exploding).
