Write in "Al Gore" on this new DFA Pulse-Poll
Edited on Wed Oct-17-07 10:36 AM by Fly by night
I just now received this DFA pulse-poll asking for my preferences (1, 2 and 3) for President. Since there is an "other" option, I wrote in Al Gore for my first choice (Richardson for second, Kucinich for third).

http://democracyforamerica.com/pulsepoll

With all the concerted corporate media effort in the past week to downplay (and outright discourage) Al from entering the 2008 race, it might be nice to show that, as a write-in candidate, Al can win this DFA poll.

So please go to this link and write in Al.

Then K&R to help other DUers do the same thing.

Thanks kindly from the Orange State (Al's home state).

1. No Gore has stated over and over he's not running
unlike the Fundies, I don't ignore inconvenient facts.

2. Nice try, but no cigar. Even the latest disinformation (from Europe) does not wash.
When Al says to us that he will not run in 2008 and he endorses another candidate, I will switch my efforts to Riuchardson.

He has not, so I will not.

6. ''I've decided that I will not be a candidate for president in 2004,''
"I've decided that I will not be a candidate for president in 2004," Mr. Gore said. "My family all gathered here in New York City over the last few days, and I found that I've come to closure on this." Couldn't have been any clearer. No nuance, no "I have no plans" no "I have no intentions at this time", just "I'm not going to run". Seems to me it would have been pretty easy to say the same thing this time if he had wanted to. Unlike the chimp, Mr. Gore has mastered the English language.

14. Good grief. People can vote for who they choose. I agree. If Al
Gore says no and endorses, then I will be sadly disappointed and live with it. Let people support who they will.

16. No, not a typo- it's what he said about 2004, not 2008
That was the point of the post, if you had read it, that he made such a definite statement about the 2004 race yet he has made NO SUCH STATEMENT about 2008.

8. Did it upthread, and
I've decided I'll write in Al Gore's name in the general election here in Utah, too, since my democratic vote has meant nothing for the forty-two years we've lived here. A vote for Obama or Clinton would be wasted anyway.

Has he given any indication of his doing so? No, he hasn't.

Thanks for the link but I put HRC as first choice.

38. Actually yes he has.
By not closing the door as he did last campaign and by posting three new position pieces on Current TV right after the Nobel, I'd say there are some indications he is running.

23. Precisely because the poll allowed a write-in candidate and I support Gore.
This isn't rocket surgery. I was reaching out to Gore supporters on DU to make their support evident. Evidently, people are free to select whomever they want -- I was working to generate Gore support.

By your logic, I could ask "Why is it necessary to tell people how to vote then conduct an election?"

25. He doesn't want to run can people get over it?!
I mean I just feel like it's detracting from the current crowd for us to be voting for someone not running in polls of our current batch. It's becoming ridiculous and we're looking like grovelers.

32. That's a silly argument
it's like saying we need to do it all by ourselves... as though leadership doesn't count.

And look at the other players sweetcakes.... there's more than one "strong rich" man running. Hillary's not poor either.... unless of course you think it's only men that can save us.

Welcome to DU

39. Mr. Gore is an incredibly
intelligent man who knows he could end any "mystery" or "distraction" or "harassment" or "groveling" with one sentence. When he utters that one sentence, then people will get over it. Not one second sooner. There is far to much at stake to let the naysayers tell us to bugger off this time. Whatever his reasons for leaving the door open, I support him.

19. The BEST part of this particular poll:
If you go to this page: http://democracyforamerica.com/pulsepoll/results, you can add or delete candidates, and see where voters support would end up if their favorite candidates drop out.

At the current time, Hillary loses to both Obama and Edwards in a 1 on 1 contest! Even Kucinich is in a statistical dead heat with her if all other candidates are eliminated:

2008 Pulse Poll

Click on the red minus icon to see the results as if that candidate dropped out of the race. Clicking a green plus icon will add that candidate back into the result calculations.

Candidate %
Representative Dennis Kucinich 51%
Senator Hillary Clinton 49%

Even a Gore/Hillary matchup gives strong support for Gore, especially considering he's a write-in candidate on this poll:

Senator Hillary Clinton 71.24%
Former Senator Al Gore 28.76%

Food for thought.

26. I don't think that has any relevance.

Since the poll asks you to choose your top 3 candidates, if your top choice is eliminated, it automatically moves your next preference to the top of the polling data. No behind-the-scenes manipulation is required.
