After outlining a long list of things he thinks the Congress should be working on, the president on Tuesday declared, "It's little time left in the year, and Congress has little to show for all the time that has gone by." ....

.... Essentially, every near-miss the president has had in his confrontation with Hill Democrats is being advanced as evidence that he's still got it. Add to that the news that after 12 solid years in control, the GOP House leadership has unveiled plans to run against the 10-month Democratic "status quo" in Washington.

They've embarassed him on S CHIP and his FISA bill isn't getting traction.

He's then whined at a press conference that Congress is not doing what he wants and then said he's still relevant.

Before leaving office, I just know that the Chimp is going to do, say, or get caught up in something stupid. What little approval he still has left at the time will nearly evaporate, and within seconds of the event, we'll start hearing, "I wonder why the Democrats in charge of Congress did nothing to stop this. They must be involved, too."

VIOLA! An excuse to feel good about voting Republican in 2008. They're all the same, so I might as well vote for the conservative party, since they can't be as bad as those liberals. :eyes:

And it will all be because of Pelosi's "impeachment is off the table" remark, as well as her inability to lead in the House. Reid has no control over the Senate, either, as it appears the GOP still is in charge of both Houses of Congress.

The Dems had the opportunity, and once again let the GOP rip it from their hands, while they did nothing to stop it.

Congress' low approval ratings, I am persuaded, are a function of two things: GOP haters, and Democratic disgust with its inability to even pick a fight, let alone win one. But those two functions hardly equate to any bump for the Idiot Bush.
