"...Curse of homosexuality" - Obama campaigner Donnie McClurkin speaking at the Republican National Convention

""If this is a war, we are willing to fight." - Obama campaigner Donnie McClurkin speaking about the war on homosexuals

ARE YOU PEOPLE STILL SERIOUSLEY FUCKING SUPPORTING THIS GUY?

1. "Obama Campaigner"??
The guy is singing at one of three shows and then goes on to perform at the REPUBLICAN CONVENTION.

Yeah, people are still seriously supporting that fucking guy.

If one bad story was enough to kill off all support, your girl would have been out of the race a long time ago.

And I'm not on either side, here.

11. That's what I am trying to determine. If it's true, that they're associated, it's not good.
But what exactly is the connection?

4. Who? Obama? or this McClurkin joker?
Since we're conflating people now, why should anyone support Hillary Clinton, given her association with Mark "Blackwater" Penn?

ZOMG!!1! You support mercenaries who slaughter civilians if you support Clinton!1!!1 :eyes:

...especially when your dealing with a Clinton supporter.

We'll start with this one --

9. Honestly, I don't know--what is the connection?
I'm nervously watching the ball game...and haven't kept track of the debate on this matter.

Is he a supporter, an endorser, or a campaigner?

14. Ewww. That's not so good. Is he the headliner? Are there others? Is it by invitation?
If he was just some bum included in a package, that's one thing, but if Obama is using this guy for outreach--specifically this guy--that is a problem. IMO...

20. Ugh....that's really NOT good. John Aravosis is no slouch in the FACTS department.
He has credibility, and he has reach well beyond the gay community.

Obama needs to get himself a new "religious affairs" staffer.

And to change the subject totally--Boston Red Sox are kicking ass...damn, we're ahead by nine runs, but having lived through so many decades of disappointment, I still have to sit, ANXIOUSLY, until the final out....!!! Which should come in the next inning!

then there are some long threads about it. He is scheduled to sing at an upcoming campaign event in SC I believe. It is supposed to an event geared towards people of faith IIRC.

18. He's walking a tightrope, I guess. Has the guy said he is supporting Obama, or
is he just playing the gig, and the GOP shindig-- for the dough?

I won't shoot ya if ya don't know the answer. This is all news to me!!! I missed those other discussions...

13. There are three shows in this "tour"
From what I can see he is performing at one of them.

The guy is a republican and is supposed to perform at their convention. I honestly don't know what he is doing, since this isn't like performing at the white house, it's part of a democrat's campaign.

8. I remain undecided. I think Obama is going to have to find a way
to distance himself from those remarks if he wants to keep on keeping on. though. I wonder who suggested to him that this alliance was a good idea? That person might be 'let go'--that's what I'd do if I were doing the hiring/firing.

For some reason, I think he believes (though I am not sure of this at all) that this will endear him to the Black Christian community--or at least the "old school" branch of that tree. I think he's thinking it will help him pull votes from Senator Clinton...

The problem is, this could alienate others--committed 'well off' voters--if he does not clarify. As an example, I have a cousin who is gay. His sibling (not stinking rich but very 'well off') has, to this point, been an enthused and very active Obama supporter--in a KEY primary state. But this kind of shit could put the kabash on the direct debit hundred bucks a month, every month, donation--really. Ya don't go after the baby!!! And you don't allow anyone to say that the baby's orientation is anything other than what it is--it's part of him and that's that...and that's not a 'curse' by any stretch.

I can't imagine how my cousin is digesting this.

I'm thinking "not well."

There are three events. This guy will sing at one of them. He is one of many performers at all the events.

It's not like they are on a tour bus together, jeez.

A few whacked out Obama supporters (not all Obama supporters by any means!) have done more harm to Obama here today than 100 Obama bash threads ever could.

Your advocacy only makes it look like just another candidate vs. candidate spat, which it isn't.

And I'm supporting Hillary.
