I Am Proposing Three New 2008 Campaign Committees

Non-Clinton Supporters for Clinton, Non-Obama Supporters for Obama, and Non-Edwards Supporters for Edwards. All it would take to belong to any of them is a minimal level of decency and common courtesy, disgust for hypocrisy dishonest arguments and really stupid mud throwing, a real grasp for how much better a President any of them would make than any Republican who will be running in 2008, an appreciation for the fact that we could well end up needing to back any of these Democrats come August, and a willingness to call FOUL! when a Democrat who you do not personally support for President gets attacked more visciously and unfairly than anything the Republican opposition is likely to come up with on their own.

If Joe Biden, Chris Dodd, Bill Richardson, Denis Kucinich, or even Mike Gravel start coming under at least half of the off the wall attacks that the least of the three above Democrats currently endure on DU, I would suggest that similar non-supporter campaign committees be launched for them also.

I am also tempted to propose that one can't selectively in good standing be a member of one or more such committees while refusing to be part of one or more others on behalf of Democrats who you do not support for President. The whole point is giving support to the Democrats who you don't support when they honestly deserve it.

It could be very good practice for the Summer.

...actually follow through with this concept. Not. I'm a concept guy, you know? I'll leave other folks to work out the kinks, lol.

No, acutally I think these groups would exist as a state of mind in those who see the need. I dunno, maybe a bunch of us could agree on a identifying name or phrase to end posts with when we are acting in the spirit of these currently ficticious groups in a DU post. That might not be a bad idea but I would hate to get all stuffy about this. That would only bring on a "who made you the cops here?" attitude, which is probably what any "good samaritans" will encounter anyway if they get in the middle of any of these mud fights.

...I will be on the road tomorrow but I think I will try an experiment in the couple of days following when I get home. I will try to act as if these committees really existed and I was a member of all of them, and I will try to defend some candidates who I am not a supporter of when I think that they are being hit below the belt.

This could get interestting. I might end up with a lot more enemies around here if I do too much of this, lol.
