Voters are not happy.
Congress is not serving the people judging by the bad approval ratings.
Voters want to see some results.
There needs to be some remake/remodeling.

What should be done?

1. they don't care
Congress doesn't serve the People. That's not their job right now. They serve Corporations who funnel huge amounts of money into their re-election coffers and who then offer them high paid jobs should they somehow inexplicably fail to hold their Seat. I'm through being angry at Congress. Letters, phone calls, FAXes ... does it matter in the end if the Leadership is going to ignore you and do what they like regardless of what we, the People, want?

I don't know what should be done. Support truly Progressive Candidates who run against the do-nothing-and-ignore-you Incumbent?

2. You're right. Congress works hard for its constituency - the Corporations.

3. they do not care one whit
this is what happens when you have basically a one party system totally corrupted by corporate greed.

5. you would think that the local parties who put them forward
it would seem at least where I am, the congress members do not report back to the local parties or be held accountable for their actions by party members. Perhaps some of them should go independent or Howard Dean could give them a plan to work from?

8. nope
they often go to work for the corporations that filled their coffers.

(note: has anyone actually seen a coffer? is it a real thing or just a figure of speech? I keep thinking 'metal and shiny and maybe gold') :-)

7. People don't know that the Democrats showed the highest Democratic unity score in 51 years.
Maybe you didn't know it either.

"President Bush's success rating in the Democratic-controlled House has fallen this year to a half-century low, and he prevailed on only 14 percent of the 76 roll call votes on which he took a clear position.

"So far this year, Democrats have backed the majority position of their caucus 91 percent of the time on average on such votes. That marks the highest Democratic unity score in 51 years."

Don't let the media rhetoric fool you. The Democrats have acquitted themselves quite well--especially given their bare majority in both houses, and a relentlessly obstructionist Republican minority.
