2. Of course. I will vote for whoever our nominee is. Unless maybe if
Al Gore went third party, but that's highly unlikely.

7. He certainly would not be acceptable in the Netherlands, though
Not with his embracing of anti-gay personalities. Tot ziens.

34. That's right. We almost even elected a gay prime-minister in 2002.
But on other issues I think he's ok. Not very great, but still better than some other candidates.

26. Oops. I missed this event before I posted. I understand where the 22% came from, now.

McClurkin at Obama event: "I tell you that God delivered me from homosexuality."

"McClurkin's words drew raucous applause from the crowd, who had lined up around the block to get into the Township Auditorium in Columbia."

That's right. EVen though we were told repeatedly, he is just one act amongst many and he'll only sing, the truth is he ended up MC'ing the event and gave a political/religious speech at the end of it.

10. Yes, but I have a question:
Sorry, Im new to the political scene..

When is the Democratic & Republican Nominee's selected. I know that they are formely announced at their Party's national convention, but when is it known who's gonna get the nomination, more than likely.

Also, What are these caucus for. Why is Iowa and these states so important?

Thanks!

They are awarded to candidates at Caucus votes and through the primary system...

said they couldn't vote for Kerry because he was way too centrist, or he voted the wrong way on the war, or what have you....

he's far preferable to any Republican. But, he needs to understand that he cannot pander to bigots. Democrats should act like Democrats, not like Republicans.

I now have the same problem with him that I have with Hillary: I don't trust them, even for politicians.

19. Dumbest question I have seen asked in DU!
Obama fucked up big time with his cavorting with known homophobes. He is going to need major sensitivity sessions to become palatable again.

Edwards needs to work out his inability to accept LGBTs on an emotional level. It is one thing to say that gays shouldn't be discriminated against, but it is one another to put the caveat that gays cannot marry one another. Discrimination is discrimination, John!

Hillary. As another DUer pointed out to me on a previous thread, deep in my heart I fear that Hillary will throw the LGBT community under the bus, just as her philandering predatory husband did. We will have to pray hard and watch Hillary like a hawk, making sure she is not standing behind us as we wait for the subway.

Will I vote for Obama, or Edwards, or even the evil Queen of Diamonds herself? You bet! The harsh reality is that the GOP hates LGBTs. If they could cleanse society from all LGBTs, they would do so in a jiffy.

Our Democrats may be flawed to one extent or another, but there is no doubt that the GOP wants to harm all of us, and harm us with extreme prejudice!

to spew his homophobic filth.

That's the kind of judgement we need! :sarcasm:

I find that hard to swallow and I don't believe it. Whats the alternative? Vote for the republican? Stay home and help the other side win? I find that hard to believe for the posters who come to this forum. Why bother coming here at all then?

27. That's an excellent question, and statement!
I cannot believe that people who bother to post here want Rudy or Mitt to be our President, simply because Barack may have made a very bad tactical error in getting some bigot to sing at a campaign stop.

As a supporter of equal rights for all, gay men and women included, this flack over some silly mistake is not a reason to live with Romney or Rudy for four years in the White House.

Democrats know that no candidate is perfect, Obama included. Let's practice a little understanding of imperfection and not throw away the next four years to some Republican.

Now, as for my support, I will vote for ANY Democrat over any Republican.

33. Yes.
McClurkin isn't my idea of a plus in a political campaign, since modern science tends to blow his ridiculous assertions out of the water.

And yes, I do wonder whose decision it was to invite McClurkin to be a hang-around.

My strong guess is that McClurkin's profile will fade wiftly and noticeably in the coming days until by Thanksgiving it is no longer a viable current topic.

And properly so.
