Biden tells audience "If I don't make it - I'm for him" when he ran into Dodd
at campaign event. They were both speaking at a disability rights organization.

MANCHESTER -- Chris Dodd may be behind in the polls, but he got one high-profile -- if conditional -- endorsement today: fellow Senator Joe Biden, one of Dodd's rivals for the Democratic presidential nomination.

The two not-front-runners ran into each other at an event by the Granite State Independent Living, as Biden was leaving after giving his speech to the disabled rights organization and Dodd was arriving to deliver his.

The two Democratic senators greeted each other warmly, and Dodd, a Connecticut lawmaker, introduced his sister, Caroline Dodd, to his colleague from Delaware.

Biden leaned in and said conspiratorially, ``By the way, I'm for him. If I can't make it, I'm for him.''

Caroline, who is legally blind and a retired schoolteacher, has campaigned for her younger brother and been an activist for disabled people.

Dodd also picked up another member of the Kennedy family yesterday as a supporter. Bobby Shriver, son of Eunice Kennedy Shriver and Sargent Shriver, endorsed Dodd yesterday. He joins his cousins, Teddy Kennedy, Jr., and Representative Patrick Kennedy of Rhode Island, as official Dodd backers.

1. Interesting. The Kennedy clan is not united behind Hillary.
Ethel likes Obama and RFK Jr. allegedly seems to be the only one for Hillary.Hmm.

5. That would be nice. A Biden-Dodd ticket would be a dream.
Though they would be painted as northeastern Irish elite liberals.

7. Biden, Dodd and Clinton are not afraid to be the adult in the room. Wish Dodd were doing better.

6. I read somewhere that Dodd and Kennedy have been friends since their bachelor
days - so Teddy Jr and Patrick probably knew him growing up. Maybe cousin Bobby Shriver knew him then as well.

9. I'm really glad to be getting to know both Senators.
I used to have a (wet) blanket opinion of the Senate as a whole, but there are a few more gems in there than I originally thought:

Durbin, Feingold, Boxer, Biden, Brown & Dodd spring to mind.
