. . .comments about Richardson? It was in the same skit that Kucinich portrayed by a woman. How about the whole crazy old man portrayal of Gravell. And let's not forget Obama was not in the debate skit because he was "late" was that a not so subtle reference to CP time?

2. I guess some people here need to "get over it". Right?
Now, WHERE have I heard those 3 words before?

3. I'm just asking if its about fighting bigotry. . .
. . .where is the outrage over the half Mexican comment? Is it about right and wrong or is it just about politics. For if it were about right or wrong shouldn't more than a few people be outraged about the half Mexican comment? Or is it just that Richardson does not have a lot of DU supporters.

9. Are you trying to rationalize your bigotry?
Is that what this is about?

4. You can distill it down to two words, too.
"Lighten up" :eyes:

5. Not about lighten up, its about Richardson has very few supporters on DU. . .
. . .so there is no outrage on here about the half Mexican skit. If we are really coming at this from a tolerance or respect angle as opposed to a political angle there would have been outrage about the half Mexican skit. Its SNL and its a brand of comedy meant to push the limits, meant to be controversial. As an African American I understand it, look at some of the characters played by Garrett Morris, Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock, Tim Meadows, etc. trust me Obama is going to get his fair share as well.

7. Your whole message was lost when you made fun of sensitive people.
Why not just make your point without some scalding snipe at the "sensitivity police"?

Calling me out for spelling on another topic is definitely a job for the stupid police. Glad to see you're policing yourself.

18. How about you stop behaving like you don't understand what others have said.
That's called discussing/debating in good faith.

20. This is what it comes down to. . .there is still no outrage about the "Half Mexican" comment. . .
. . .if we are to be truly offended by comedy that uses race/gender/sexual orientation/et al. shouldn't we be consistent. I understand what others have said, but their actions speak differently as evidenced by the lack of outrage over the "half Mexican" comment.

21. What's wrong with being "half Mexican"? I'm not following you.
It seems very much like you're trying to rationalize yourself making previous inane posts about the witch skit.

If people are "outraged" over posters here saying there's nothing wrong with calling a woman a witch, how does your protest about "the half Mexican comment" play into that?

You're not making your point clear at all.

22. I believe his/her point is
that all of the candidates were the targets in the skit. It was the lowest common denominator, SNL, sophomoric skit, made so everyone would get it. Gravel, the crazy old man, Biden and Dodd, the grey haired old white man with no difference between them, Edwards the rich guy playing the poor boy, and Hillary taking the direct hits, because everyone knows her and her husbands indiscretions. It was a basic comedy sketch, nothing more!

23. No shit! As if somehow we're not liberals because we didn't stop watching SNL!
And Al Franken is running for Senator of Minnesota!!

Fuckin' A, man!

I'd vote for him in a heartbeat!

"Hello, I'm Al Franken."

I love the way he used to say that.

24. It's a freaking comedy sketch
That show has been known for it's off-color humor where any gender, race, culture, sexual identity is not off limits.

I wasn't offended by the "witch" sketch nor have I ever been offended by their numerous skits on the gay community or on people of different races and religion.

This show has been "making fun" of people for years. Some of it's funny and some of it is not.

I get the many of the points that people are trying to make but it's a comedy show and to me, nothing more and nothing less.

If you missed it the first time it wasn't driven home. I only saw the youtube clip. It wasn't worth going back to look for the comment you mention.

. . .there was a ton of things to be outraged about if one didn't have a sense of humor. My secondary point is that if Richardson were a viable candidate and/or if he had a sizeable following on DU there would have been outrage.
