1. LOL, funny, a couple of the questions have no good answers, my top three are
3. Dodd

2. Gravel (who knew?)

And, at number one, drum roll...

KUCINICH!

This is so fun, I have to :kick:

Now I'm going back as one my RW coworkers. :-) MKJ

3. I had the same problem.
I had to pick some crappy answers. My top three are Paul, Gravel, Kucinich. I think I got Paul because I selected "Throw out the entire tax system and start over."

6. Well, at least it won't be on our permanent records:-) Thanks for posting, this is pretty clever.

:toast: MKJ

on edit, I went back and answered the way a RW'er with whom I work probably would and got Romney, Thompson and Guiliani.

I thought for sure it would be Guiliani at number one, I guess the gay marriage question drops him to three. MKJ

8. Yup, these questions/answers were "engineered" for certain outcomes...
I don't think they really hit on issues and answers that I want to see dealt with:

Should have the following question answers added to each question:

Iraq War:

3) No, because it is the only way for congress to effectively stop the war without being fillibustered.

Immigration:

1) Impose jail terms, not just fines on employers hiring illegals, and increase enforcement of it, which is currently lax, so that they can't write off that expense.

2) Renegotiate or drop NAFTA and other trade agreements that create conditions that force more to try and seek jobs in this country.

3) Allow them to apply for citizenship, or through heavy enforcement of prosecution of illegal employers, force them to go home without jobs being available to them.

Hot Topics:

1) All couples should be able to enter civil unions, and that would be the only "legal" status people have. Churches and other entities would be allowed their own discretion to decide on whether they would "marry" couples.

2) Drop the Reagan tax cuts and return to top marginal rates of 70% and above.

3) One way is not enough. A multi-faceted approach of investment in alternative energy resources, cap-and-trade systems, and tax incentives for vehicles that get higher mileage or move away from carbon-based fuels.

Hot Topics (second page):

1) Has a history of representing people and grass roots efforts, not corporate or other private special interests.

Questions that need to be added:

1) What election reforms financing would you support? (public campaign financing would have to be a selectable option):

2) What are the most important issues for voting procedures? (getting rid of DRE's and going to paper ballots would be a necessary option)

3) What do you feel about H-1B Visa and other guest worker programs (should have an option that they should be carefully tooled NOT to allow worker importation just to be "cheaper labor" for employers)

4) How should education be reformed? (Qualifying students in terms of grade levels would get free college education like we used to get in California would be a big option)

5) What should be done to ensure a "free press"? (Need to have options for breaking up the monopolies of media and to return to something like the fairness doctrine).

6) What support should we have for civil liberties? (Need to have options and/or other questions to cover habeus corpus, torture, warrantless wiretapping, etc.)

7) Do you feel the obligation to impeach administration officials that are violating our constitution and other laws?

8) Should there be a citizen referendum process to initiate an impeachment or recall process of federal public officials that a majority of the public feel are involved with wrongdoing?

9) Do you feel that corporations are entitled to "corporate personhood" or "free speech" rights in our courts?

10) Would you support instant runoff voting?

11) Do you support better bankruptcy protection for individuals and regulation of our financial institutions in terms of loans and interest rates?

12) Do you feel that Social Security is an investment or an insurance program?

13) Do you feel that there is adequate protection for workers to organize into labor unions? Should they be allowed to organize globally?

This is just for starters, but if they had questions like these (and could get decent answers from all of the candidates on these issues, which might be a TOUGH thing to get together accurately), THEN I think such a poll/tool would be useful to me. Right now it's not very deep!

2. Obama,Clinton, and Biden
makes sense for me, but I do think some of the questions were flawed. Unless the candidates fill out the quiz themselves, it's hard to know how they all would have answered those questions.

24. Yeah, but the poll is deeply flawed.
What if the questions were:

1) Would you vote for a candidate who claims to have seen a UFO?
2) Do you think the legal drinking age should be lowered to 18?
3) Do you think the legal voting age should be lowered to 16?

That would put Kucinich way down at the bottom of most people's rankings.

"Things I think would be sound, viable proposals" to "in a perfect world we'd see," I get Kucinich, Gravel, Biden.

16. And just for kicks, I
Edited on Tue Nov-06-07 12:48 PM by Basileus Basileon
went for the most isolationist, free-market stance I could pick.

I got Ron Paul, Dennis Kucinich, Fred Thompson.

Any candidate-picker who thinks that those three are remotely similar is...um...suspect. Nobody who thinks that we should scrap healthcare and let the free market take over would like DK. Nobody who thinks Iraq was wrong and we need to get out immediately would like Fred. Needs more questions.

23. John Edwards was the Number One match for me!!
Those questions were kind of tricky.

Dodd and Biden were 2 and 3 respectively.

I guess I know my candidate and where he stands.
