High drama! House voting on whether to table Dennis Kucinich's resolution to impeach Dick Cheney.
Edited on Tue Nov-06-07 04:00 PM by flpoljunkie
The motion to table Kucinich's amendment was offered by Steny Hoyer. The motion to table has failed 242 to 170 with 164 Republicans voted No along with 78 Democrats.

Seems the Republicans want to put the Democrats on record on an impeachment vote of Dick Cheney.

1. Hoyer moves to refer the resolution to the judiciary committee. Kucinich objects.

Kucinich wants a debate and a vote. Hoyer looks shaken.

5. Hoyer is trying to kill impeachment of Cheney
Referring to the Judiciary Committee is ridiculous since H.Res 333 has been languishing there for months.

GOP is trying to make hay out of this by exploiting the disconnect between the Democratic leaders with the American people, who favor impeachment.

6. H.Res 333 has been languishing in Judiciary Committee for months
No hearings! This is why Dennis used this privileged parliamentary maneuver to get at least a vote.

9. C-SPAN quoted a Faux news report that John Conyers wants this killed
He doesn't want H.Res 333 referred to his committee because it will "detract from the leadership's agenda," whatever that means.

11. Which means with 218 votes, Kuchinch's resolution will be referred to the Judiciary Committee, and
there will be no one hour debate or vote on the House floor.

13. It is confusing. I also read that it will never come out of the Judiciary Committee, as well.
