Richardson just told Chris Matthews he'd vote NO on impeachment...
And then listed a bunch of things Cheney has done wrong. He says he wants the Congress to concentrate on ending the war ~ yeah, as if.

How disappointing.

1. Remember when asked in one of the debates
only Dennis supported impeachment. It should tell you something about the other candidates.

23. No it doesn't show that. Nice try. 7 out of 8 Dem candidates don't support it.
Birdshot should be impeached. I'm all for it. He's committed high crimes. BUT ITS NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN. AND ITS A WASTE OF TIME. We have to end the war in Iraq, fix the destruction they've wrought; all far more important than worrying about Birdshot Chainee.

3. Well we know the LAST thing we expect Congress to do is uphold the Consitution
and Richardson just said he doesn't believe in the Constitution by his ignorant statement.
Hear that giant slurping sound he keeps emitting? All this fool wants is to be VP for Hillary.

10. Congress for the most part obeys the constitution when it
is good for them and ignores what makes things difficult for them. Things like having to authorize war. They don't want to take votes on that and the people should not let them get away with putting all that in the hands of the President like they have been doing for years.

Dressed up as a Veep ... I'm sure Hillary also doesn't think impeachment is worth the time.

7. That's disgraceful to say he'd vote no if it came to a vote
What he should've said is, "Chris, I don't have any more guts than the rest of my fellow candidates (except Dennis) to do what should've been done a long time ago. I don't care about seeing Bush and Cheney brought to justice. It's not important to do what's right. It's only important to try and sound polital on stage."

9. I guess then if I am ever selected
for jury duty again, I don't have to bother listening to the evidence. I'll just say "guilty" or "not guilty" based on - well, whatever.

13. just got some mail from him asking for $$ -- will send it back with explanation
-- luckily I heard about his remark today, in time to snag the fund appeal out of the recycling box (I don't have enough $$ anyway to send to everybody)

Now I am going to fish it out and tell him he can shove it, that he will never receive a dime from me with that cowardly and Constitution-hating attitude. And return it on his dime. fuck em.

19. All except for Kucinich are against impeachment, where are the rest of the attack threads?
They asked if the candidates supported Kucinich's impeachment proposal in the South Carolina debate. Hillary, Obama, Edwards, Richardson, Biden, and Dodd did not support it then. Obama answered this way when asked about impeachment:

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama said Thursday he opposes impeachment of either President Bush or Vice President Dick Cheney.

The Illinois Democrat said he would not back such a move although he has been distressed by the "loose ethical standards, the secrecy and incompetence" of a "variety of characters" in the administration.
...
"I think you reserve impeachment for grave, grave breeches breaches, and intentional breeches of the president's authority," he said.

"I believe if we began impeachment proceedings we will be engulfed in more of the politics that has made Washington dysfunction," he added. "We would once again, rather than attending to the people's business, be engaged in a tit-for-tat, back-and-forth, nonstop circus."

So where are the attack threads on all the other candidates? Surely people need to hurl profanities about them too. Surely they need to mention that Clinton, Biden, and Edwards were/are associated with the DLC.

I probably should have worded it better but a lot of folks here are attacking Richardson as if he was the only one to not support impeachment of Cheney. They seem to forget that all the other candidates are against it too. It's not a new position that Richardson suddenly took up.

I'm terribly disappointed in the others too ~ thought for sure they'd change their minds about impeachment by now.

24. I didn't support him in the first place.
As Tom Lehrer said of Werner Von Braun, he's "a man whose allegiance is ruled by expedience". A sworn follower of the prevailing winds.

Having said that, I agree he's hardly alone in being an unprincipled, self-interested ass.
