Candidate Commits Real Acts of Diplomacy!
Joe Biden issued a short statement today through his Senate office about his telephone conversation with Pakistan President Pervez Mursharraf.

It was a real-world example of what Biden is constantly trying to tell voters on the hustings and in the debates (on the rare occasion he's asked a question): to wit, as chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and a member of the committee for many years, Biden has a breadth and depth of experience in the actual practice of diplomacy that no other candidate can rival.
Here's the Musharraf statement:

Washington, DC – Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Joseph R. Biden, Jr. (D-DE) issued the following statement today after speaking by phone with Pakistan’s President Pervaiz Musharraf:

"We had a very frank and detailed discussion. I told President Musharraf how critical it is for relations between our two countries that elections go forward as planned in January, that he follow through on his commitment to take off his uniform and that he restore the rule of law to Pakistan. It is clear to me from our conversation that President Musharraf understands the consequences for his country and for relations with the United States if he does not return Pakistan to the path of democracy.”

After speaking with President Musharraf, Sen. Biden then spoke with Deputy Secretary of State John Negroponte to brief him on the conversation.

Got that Bush? Dip-loam-uh-see. Bush told Condi what to say and had her call Musharraf to relay the message. Jesus.

5. From the comments from readers someone made the statement
that Biden did not call Musharraf, that Musharrah called him and Lantos. This person had a problem with this aspect!? Imagine Biden being called. Pakistan is asking for help from America and Bushco can't provide it, that's what it tells me. Now I am really scared...

Anyway, thanks for info, damn why can't Biden get just a little tv time? He has lots to say and no one will listen. Pure frustration here.

6. You know I share your frustration - argh! On Face the Nation he spoke at
(relative) length about Pakistan. I posted it in videos but here's the link so you don't have to go there. Even if you watched it, it's worth seeing again.

12. Gawd was that good - or should I say Biden was Good....
Spontaneous responses from the gut and mind and they made sense. If anyone disagrees thay should speak out. Of course they won't because it would draw attention to him. Gotta keep Biden a secret (facetious).

15. It's getting better all the time. He'll be on GMA tomorrow and I hope the
reason they're having him on is to discuss Pakistan. He's becoming the go-to person in the country for information and guidance on this. And you're right - if it was Musharraf calling HIM....

9. Don't think Bush cares much for Biden
Biden keeps raining on his parade. Bush isn't used to people laying it on the line.

10. I know hwe doesn't, but how much more foresight does Joe have to display before Bush listens?
Maybe never. Ugh. Another year of this? Seriously?

14. Probably never
Bush is so ridiculously stubborn. He can't admit he's wrong and I'm sure he swears like a sailor every time Biden leaves the room.

16. Defer MORE to Biden? If he deferred to him at ALL we probably would have
seen this coming and prevented it somehow.

Although I did hear that Bush knew it was about to go down and tacitly gave approval because of some nefarious agenda.

In the old days I would have thought tin foil hat, but these days and with all Bush has done, it wouldn't surprise me one whit.
