What if the Republicans decide to impeach Cheney...
...and Bush appoints the Ghoul or Jeb as VP ~ allowing the Republicans to regain stature in the eyes of voters AND provide an incumbent for them to vote for???

(Rachel Maddow made this suggestion on Keith's show tonight.)

1. What if Bush turns into a rainbow unicorn and flies away on wings of chocolate?

Jeb goes into 2008 as the incumbent.

14. Yes, but they wouldn't have to impeach Cheney...

He could step down, claiming health problems ~ I'd be very surprised if he doesn't.

(A new way to try to steal an election.)

4. That would be a smart thing for them to do,
Fortunately, too smart for this gang of Repubs to do. I still think Cheney will step down for some reason (health?) and let Bush name his heir apparent.

5. Yep, I've thought for a long time he'll step down...
Surprised it's taken him this long. Wonder what the excuse will be ~ his heart probably; he doesn't have one.

6. If their voters were intelligent, they might get somewhere with that.
But I think they've developed a whole package around being "resolute" and "clear" and "steady" -- never wavering, weebling, wobbling, or falling down.

So it'd be an admission of being WRONG -- and they can't have that! It'd be a (gasp) flip-flop! I don't think they'd take the chance.

I agreed with her point of view about the Democrats voting 'yes' though. There is NO good reason for it.

8. I can't imagine what the Dems are thinking...
They are so out of sync with voters.

10. I don't get it at all.
Richardson was saying this evening that there are other, more immediate day to day things to use the time on blah blah blah...

This is SO important, not only in the short run but also in the long run!

12. I'm thinking that an new VP would be selected
from the poole of repug Presidential Candidates.............thus giving him a Plus point for the grand prize, President. So, yea, the repugs may want Cheney impeached.
