Obama should have just kept his mouth shut.
Instead, he made it worse!

http://www6.comcast.net/news/articles/politics/2007/11/07/Obama.Photo/

Does he really not know any better?

Although in all fairness I will point out that none of them is facing the right way, unless there is another flag out of the frame. Nowhere in the Flag Code does it say; "You shall face the news camera."

For the very few uninitiated:
"During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. Men not in uniform should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart." — United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171

2. Where's that photo of Bush placing his hand on his stomach
during an "actual" pledge of alligance.

I pledge alligance
to the rag
that snaps in the wind
above America
And to the repukeits
for which it stands
God save the Queen!

12. I guess you missed the point
I didnt have anything to say about the "Original" flap.

Obama is the one who came out and said "When it's the National Anthem, you sing."

Like I said, he would have been better off just letting it go (Like I did) instead of showing such ignorance to the Flag Code. Then it could have been rightly forgotten.

Nice try, accusing me and all, but you miss the mark.

7. Of course there's a flag code
Why wouldn't there be?

It specifies how and when a flag is to be displayed, etc.

Why the reference to Nazis?

I'll bet you have a flag antenna and a yellow ribbon sticker on your SUV.

9. My mother does so whats your point?
Edited on Thu Nov-08-07 01:08 PM by William769
The flag is there because no matter what shes proud to be an American. She has a yellow ribbon because she cares for the enlisted, and I bought her the SUV (being the good son that I am).

Your attempt to try to smear the poster is laughable. But then again I use your post's for comic relief.

ON EDIT: She is also one the the older people in Florida that has been screaming her head off for the Impeachment of Bush.

18. No antenna flappers or ribbons,
just a flag in the rear window. I assume that's a problem for you as well?

Pehaps if you would define "Real" patriotism for me, I could get all the right stuff to stick on my Jeep?

the picture is a dirty trick...damn how many times JUST ON THIS JOURNAL has lies and dirty tricks been posted about HIllary. If he can't take something as incidential as a picture goodness what would he do if someone said something that really hurt his feelings. Welcome to swiftboating.

16. We have the right
to expect a better grasp of all things American than this, from anyone who wants to run. We shouldn't hve to lower our standards. We've had quite enough of that, no?

Although I agree about "No better or worse," I expect more from our candidates.

20. I could see that you responded to him/her
I just wanted to make the general comment that although I don't disagree with you, I think we all deserve better in a candidate (Which is why I posted it in the first place). It's always embarassing to hear one of them (From any party) make such a mistake about something so fundamental.

I mean come on, he was wrong about something people are unfairly bashing him with.

Sound familiar? Or is not giving a textbook answer to a question a crime? Hillary has been bashed nonstop in the MSM for not having a "perfect debate", welcome to the real world of bullshit politics.

27. Who gives a flying fuck?
My impulse these days is to drop trou and fart in the general direction of the White House when I hear the national anthem. Anything short of that, frankly, feels a bit like pandering to his royal Bushness to me.

What to do? It's issues like this that we need to focus on and have whole news blocks with highly paid reporters talking about the flag and whether you should salute or put your hand on your heart and why the heck do people wear hats when they in fact are, yunno...

33. Why do these ridiculous threads make it to the greatest page?
There are SO many important things going on in the world and everytime I check into DU there are 6 or 7 ridiculous threads about various candidates, mainly Obama and Hillary. I don't care for Hillary but it's just plain ridiculous, whether it's against her, or Obama.

Can't we let the freepers do this and stop recommending these bullshit threads?
