Like maybe they COULDN'T get back in time?

Certainly, if it was possible for one or more of them to make it back, they would done so, if only to make those who didn't come look bad.

Insisting that they could have commandeered private planes at a moment's notice to return to Washington for a vote taking place in a couple of hours is just unrealistic.

Everyone should back off of them and put the blame where it belongs - with the Senate Majority Leader who scheduled this vote with no notice.

1. Yes, it is illogical to expect U.S. Senators to be present for a vote for U.S. AG...
I mean, the office of Attorney General is hardly worth troubling oneself with.:eyes:

It took months and incredible work to rid ourselves of Gonzo...now, when we could have driven a stake through * and the repugs, we failed...and the Senators running for president? They were in absentia. Why bother making excuses for them? I will probably be supporting Kucinich now. I hope he doesn't let me down.

3. What's illogical is for a Majority Leader to schedule vote of this importance
Edited on Fri Nov-09-07 12:33 AM by beaconess
with a couple of hours notice, making it physically impossible for anyone who is out of town to get back to Washington in time to cast the vote.

If you're so unhappy about this, you should take it up with Senator Reid, not whine about the candidates.

6. Stop squawking and railing against Reid...
Why try to pass the buck? The Senators were not in DC during an important vote. There is NO excuse.

7. So, they're supposed to just sit in Washington and never go anywhere just in case
Reid decides to schedule an important vote on three hours notice?

Right.

4. The inviolate mantra in practice in DC is
When your opponent is busy hanging themselves make sure they have enough rope to do it.

The repugs can't do anything right. So the Dems leadership has decided to stand back and do nothing. They believe this will build up the most political capital for them.

There is some truth to this. The people are so angry right now that any mistake is going to bring with it the wrath of the people. So they believe it is better to lay low and let the repugs take the blame for everything and get the heat rather than take a risk of blowing it and getting the heat themselves.

Its disgusting and its politics.

8. They should have been there...where were they? Timbuctoo?
Is it that difficult for you to understand that voting for Attorney General is important?

2. It tells me there are people who will stoop to using anything to bash an opponent.
