1. A while ago he kept calling John McCain his mother's husband...
Sometimes I think he never watches video of himself.

9. I have never hated Tweety.I have always found him rather humerous!
Edited on Fri Nov-09-07 05:54 PM by saracat
Am I supposed to be "offended" by his Hillary comments? Remember, Tweety was the one that alerted Joe Wilson to Rove's calling Valerine Plame"Fair Game". Tweety is not all bad. he is just not a Hillary fan and doesn't apparently work for Murdoch. He did however work for Jimmy Carter. How sad you can't seperate for idolotry of your candidate from Tweety's body of work.

18. No need to be nasty to me.This body of work:
When Matthews first arrived in Washington he was given a patronage job as an armed officer with the United States Capitol Police<1>. Matthews has worked for four Democratic politicians. He was a presidential speechwriter for four years during the Carter administration. He served as a top aide to long-time Speaker of the House of Representatives Tip O'Neill for six years. He worked in the U.S. Senate for five years on the staffs of Senators Frank Moss and Edmund Muskie before himself campaigning for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, and losing his party's nomination to Pennsylvania Congressman Joshua Eilberg in the Democratic primary in 1974.

Matthews was raised in a conservative Irish Catholic household. As a young man he supported Barry Goldwater, but was inspired to become a Democrat by Eugene McCarthy's pro-civil rights and anti-Vietnam war platforms

Matthews worked as a print journalist for 15 years, spending 13 years as Washington, D.C. Bureau Chief for The San Francisco Examiner (1987 – 2000), and two years as a nationally syndicated columnist for The San Francisco Chronicle.

In 1997, Matthews was given his own talk show, Hardball with Chris Matthews, which originally aired on CNBC but is presently on MSNBC. Hardball features pundits and elected officials as guests whom Matthews will not hesitate to interrupt, often to disagree (i.e., playing "hardball" and forcing them to answer his questions). Some media watchdog groups have accused Matthews of having panels of guests that skew to the right.<2> In contrast, conservative watchdog groups accuse Matthews of taking Democratic Party positions.<3> Matthews was singled out for his accounts of presidential candidate Al Gore during the 2000 presidential campaign.<4> He has also frequently offered high praise for Bill Clinton. <5>

In 2002, The Chris Matthews Show began airing in syndication. The show is formatted as a political roundtable consisting of four journalists and Matthews, who serves as the moderator.

Matthews is the author of four books on politics and history. The first, Hardball: How Politics is Played, led to the creation of his signature TV show. The second, Kennedy and Nixon, detailed the friendship of the two future political adversaries from the 1940s through the 1960 election.

The third, Now Let Me Tell You What I Really Think, is the first where he discusses his real political views on various issues. His fourth book, American: Beyond Our Grandest Notions, is a history of famous and/or influential Americans and how they rose from humble and/or immigrant origins.

6. He's a sexist ass....
He thinks it makes Hillary weak because her husband speaks out for her. Gee...he doesn't say that when Michelle Obama or Elizabeth Edwards are talking for their husbands. And I guess having John McCain come out with his mommy is okay too. If Hillary's dad was still alive and talking for her he'd accuse her of needing her daddy. I didn't start out being for Hillary but more and more I'm leaning that way.

"obligated" to like Hillary? I though we had freedom of speech.

19. Tweety has often been defended on DU. You probably skip those posts.
You should like him.He worked for McGovern ! And Carter! As well as Tip O'Neil;ll.But anyone who doesn't support Hillary has no credibility with some. Very sad.Tweety is not perfect by a long shot and I don't always agree with him but you can't seem to separate him from your idolatry.

17. His mindless Clinton-hating just serves to show people how empty the Hillary haters are
He's so pathetic that you can't help but think that if he represents Hillary haters, and he kind of does on cable, that people are just going to feel kind of sad and repulsed towards all Hill haters based on his behavior, and are gonna be second-guessing any parts of themselves that sound like him or them.

I'm sure he's already pushed many people over to Hillary's side as he goes on and on with his kind of smart-ass rancor about the most trivial things about Hillary. I can't imagine a woman watching him who wouldn't immediately be more inclined to rethink whatever disposition they previously held Hillary in more positively.

He's almost like a Steven Colbert in character as a parody of Clinton hating. Like a self-caricature.

22. I am equally repulsed by the mindless Hillary worshippers!
Edited on Fri Nov-09-07 08:49 PM by saracat
They definately caused me to rethink what little support I had for her. The Campign actually called me yesterday and informed me I had an "obligation" to support her! I was polite but said "No thank you, I was looking at other candidates."Then they "demanded" to know who. I politely informed them it was not their business. Then they continued with."But you will vote for Hillary in the primary?"I said "I would vote in the Primary".They said, "but will you "pledge to Hillary" ?" I said "I pledge to no one". I hung up on them then. They called back today! Because they said they "knew" I was interested in volunteering.Sheesh.

25. I think he calls 'em as he sees 'em. He's definitely against this war,
he thinks Plame was outed and Rove was guilty of leaking her name (as well as others), he gets on the Dems. for not standing up to Bush, but he also thinks Rudy is a hero for how he was walking through the rubble on 9/11 and wants a "subway series" between Hillary and Rudy (and wants Rudy to win, I think), and he declared Hillary the winner of every debate except the last one. And since Hillary gave that evasive answer during the last debate and Bill has been "protecting" her, he's been saying how he feels about that (he doesn't like it). BEFORE that debate, he said Hillary's definitely the nominee unless Obama steps it up or she messes up. She DID mess up. Her supporters should start dealing with reality.

27. masculine inferiority
i think tweety has a male problem. his wife wears the pants and he resents any woman who is assertive. it makes him feel less of a man than he already does. he equates being masculine with wearing aqua valva as in freddy thompson. there may also be some jealousy towards bill clinton because of tweet's feelings of masculine inadequacy. he and ucker tucker should be replaced.
