Taking the Fifth: Iran can strike back
http://cannonfire.blogspot.com/2007/11/taking-fifth-iran-can-strike-back.html

Michael Salla has written a very important piece:

The Bush administration has covered up and ignored dissenting Pentagon war games analysis that suggests an attack on Iran's nuclear or military facilities will lead directly to the annihilation of the Navy's Fifth Fleet now stationed in the Persian Gulf. Lt. General Paul Van Riper led a hypothetical Persian Gulf state in the 2002 Millennium Challenge war games that resulted in the destruction of the Fifth Fleet. His experience and conclusions regarding the vulnerability of the Fifth Fleet to an asymmetrical military conflict and the implications for a war against Iran have been ignored. Neoconservatives within the Bush administration are currently aggressively promoting a range of military actions against Iran that will culminate in it attacking the U.S. Navy's Fifth Fleet with sophisticated cruise anti-ship missiles. They are ignoring Van Riper's experiences in the Millennium Challenge and how it applies to the current nuclear conflict with Iran.

Edited on Sat Nov-10-07 09:52 AM by sam sarrha
defense is antiquated against Mach 3 targets and there are also super high speed torpedo's from russia we have no defense against. Our ships are also operating in water shallower than most lakes in this country

IRAN IS THE "WHAT WE NEED IS ANOTHER PEARL HARBOR" DESIRED BY DANIEL PEARL AND THE NeoCons.

You must mean Richard Perle.

Daniel Pearl was the WSI reporter beheaded in the middle east.

6. Well, this is hardly news, however, it conveniently pumps up the Iran "threat".
Which I'm just guessing is the intent of the website/author. MKJ

11. I'm talking about the language in the OP, not about whether Iran could or would retaliate and what
Edited on Sat Nov-10-07 10:41 AM by BleedingHeartPatriot
those scenarios could look like.

This is a not very subtle "Iran is poised to annihilate our destroyers in the Gulf" fearmongering crap that is hardly nuanced and designed to drum up more fear of a country who is zero threat to us.

I'm beginning to recoil at the "attack Iran" speculative info out there, it's becoming a convential wisdom like with Iraq. Only, this "author" and I use the term loosely, is excitedly relating the imagined horrors that Iran will unleash upon us, if we attack, thus bringing more credibility to their supposed danger to all of us and probably unleashing some "bring it on" responses, which seems to be in alarmingly high supply among the least aware, most cowardly among us.

"...the current nuclear conflict with Iran" is a loaded with bullshit statement.
