"We Need Troops To Protect Our Embassy In Iraq"
Edited on Sun Nov-11-07 09:40 AM by DemocratSinceBirth
Regardless of how you feel about maintaining troops in Iraq , to suggest we need troops there to protect our embassy is ludicrous... Most embassies are protected by a small Marine contingent...If the security environment is so tenuous that you needs thousands or tens of thousands of troops to protect your embassy you shouldn't have an embassy in that country in the first place ...

4. From Our Side
I don't know what the best solution is for Iraq but to suggest we need "troops" there to protect our embassy is disingenuous...

5. I am having trouble with your logic.
The "five marines" as all of the security at our embassies is no longer true - has not been for many years.

Are you just trying to say we should not have an embassy?

6. If The Security Environment Is So Tenuous That We Need
If the security environment is so tenuous or that the host nation can not guarantee the safety of our embassy staff I think we should revisit the need to have an embassy in that nation in the first place...
