6. these audiences are extremely partisan and are like those fake audiences on TV shows like Oprah

if you've ever attend a tv show taping you know there are those little signs that flash "applause" over and over when the producers want some crowd noise, so like little robots, the crowd responds. Makes it seem spontaneous but it is not.
that accounts for the feeling you get when the audience is shreiking with delight and you are thinking nothing happened to generate such response.

hard core political rallies are like those tv shows. only the die hard partisans are allowed in, and the less interested or more skeptical public is kept out, kinda like when Bush speaks to the faithtful.

Huh? As far as I know, anyone can attend the JJ dinner. Granted, the audience is primarily Democrats, as it's a Democratic event, but nobody is "kept out."

It's like any event - people interested in the event go, those who aren't interested, don't go. That applies to NASCAR, rock concerts, square-danding clubs, etc. etc. I dont' give a shit about NASCAR, so I don't go.
