Biden makes the papers
Edited on Mon Nov-12-07 02:39 PM by tsegat01
You’re Joe Biden, you’re running for president, and you have a problem. By and large, when the national press covers you, they do so sparingly, largely as a backdrop to bickering between Hillary Clinton and John Edwards and Barack Obama.

snip

In the Inquirer, Biden shares a byline with fellow Judiciary Committee member Arlen Specter (R-Pa.). The senators have co-sponsored a bill aimed at easing the transition from prison back into society. The legislation provides states and nonprofit prisoner-reentry organizations funding to help ex-offenders get job training, education, literacy training, substance-abuse treatment, counseling, housing and mentoring services.

2. This is a problem and concern NOBODY has addressed as far as I know,. I didn't
know Biden was doing this. He continues to bowl me over with his attention to so many disenfranchised people - God I like him. My admiration of him continues to grow! Thank you for this, tsegat.

10. It was new to me too
He certainly has a way of getting his name out there on a regular basis without expensive advertising. He actually gets media attention by DOING HIS JOB!!!

13. Actually, that's why I didn't originally go with Biden and went for Hillary.
But, for every other reason I love Biden and would be very happy to vote for him. There are things Hillary voted for that I don't like either. If I can forgave her...I should forgive Biden. Maybe when all the Dems have veto proof control they can change that bill. We must all remember all politicians have to raise a damn lot of money and hold their noses and put there values on the shelf for awhile...along as they don't do it too often. ALL the Rethugs do it...even regarding pro life. Romney and Rudy come to mind!

GO BIDEN GO!

15. Biden gave a very compelling argument supporting his vote
citing how many people abuse bankruptcy protection to get out of paying child support or punitive damages in lawsuits. And you simply have to take into consideration that everyone in Delaware works for the banks or is related to someone who does. That's Biden's constituency as a senator. He will have a considerably larger constituency as US president.

Either way, he is not getting much support from banks, corporations, lobbyists, or any other special interests in his presidential campaign.

17. The old bill was brutal to women and children
and allowed a debtor to write off past child support payments, as well as not pay during bankruptcy proceedings. This is an aspect of the bill that is rarely mentioned.

18. They don't support him because they know he's so damn smart
they won't be able to pull the wool over his eyes. That's why they voted for stupid! Biden is his own man and he KNOWS what's going on in the world.

16. You know, yesterday it dawned on me,
that I am very close to THREE people who filed for bankruptcy in the past and they all oppose the bill, BUT two are avid Biden supporters. The other is just not interested in politics.

What does that tell you?

12. Another example of how Biden is just as brilliant on domestic issues as foreign ones.
This is much needed legislation!
