Does anyone doubt this is the reason Bushco insists on torturing people?
I mean pretty much everyone with an IQ over 50 understands that "confessions" gained under torture are worthless in terms of real Intel; so why does Bushco still insist on doing it? Well, if you don't give a damn about the truth, but only want some pretext to launch an unwarranted attack on another sovereign nation, well ... gee.. torture is just the ticket.

US military officials are putting huge pressure on interrogators who question Iraqi insurgents to find incriminating evidence pointing to Iran, it was claimed last night.

Micah Brose, a privately contracted interrogator working for American forces in Iraq, near the Iranian border, told The Observer that information on Iran is 'gold'. The claim comes after Washington imposed sanctions on Iran last month, citing both its nuclear ambitions and its Revolutionary Guards' alleged support of Shia insurgents in Iraq. Last week the US military freed nine Iranians held in Iraq, including two it had accused of links to the Revolutionary Guards' Qods Force.

Brose, 30, who extracts information from detainees in Iraq, said: 'They push a lot for us to establish a link with Iran. They have pre-categories for us to go through, and by the sheer volume of categories there's clearly a lot more for Iran than there is for other stuff. Of all the recent requests I've had, I'd say 60 to 70 per cent are about Iran.

1. Torture is also very useful in terrorizing citizens.
Wouldn't you think twice about standing up to a government that tortures? Not only do the bushes get to terrorize Iraq citizens but it makes American citizens think twice. Torture is a two-for for the bushes.

3. Didn't the 9/11 "mastermind" admit to being totally responsible for EVERYTHING after...
He was tortured?

And, here, I always thought that the Jews killed Jesus and Hitler started every war since 1776.

:sarcasm:

6. I don't think they think that.
I think that they have their heads far enough up their asses that most of them believe the rhetoric they spew. It doesn't make them less dangerous--it just makes them a lot less intelligent.

9. So how do you account for such a "coincidental" convergence of events?
what with Cheney/Bush publicly salivating for war with Iran and this revelation from the Iraq torturers ... ahh .. i mean
"interrogators" ... that they've been instructed to "extract" dirt on Iran?

8. In kind of a "So you think YOU got it bad? Well, it could be a lot worse" vein?
ya, I can see that being one of the Administration's motives ... however,

I'm a great believer in "both/and"s. I don't doubt this is ONE of several "benefits" Lord Torture serves
up for it's clueless minions.

..Which doesn't take anything away from my point, which is that torture's being used right now to try to get
someone, anyone, to "provide proof" of Iranian skullduggery vis-a-vis Iranian nukes and/or aiding and
abetting one of the Iraqi resistance movements.

10. I think it's a mistake to assign rational motives to right-wingers.

Republicans are degenerates. They are basically animals who look like humans and are not really sentient at all.

12. Don't insult the animal kingdom . . .
You know people talk about "zoos" . .. without a general awareness that they are something created by man.

The animal kindom isn't bringing this planet or our species to doom --- we are.

Nor have they polluted the hell out of the planet --- except in the cases where WE have bred and overbred domestic animals for "food."

13. They get to make up evidence
and by the time people realize it's evidence that had been tortured out of some guy in Gitmo, it will be too late.

And they will get away with it, because these creeps are beyond the reach of the law.

What fun says zillionaire chainey. "Let's torture a few more so I can get my rocks off".
