Democrats Confront Bush Over Spending

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Bush may have lost a veto battle last week on a water projects bill, but GOP allies in Congress are sticking with him in another, bigger veto showdown over government spending...

The ongoing clash is part of a plan to get the GOP's fiscal conservatism "brand" back...

My opinion: We are on the wrong side of the fight here. After what Bush has done the past 7 years, there is no way we should allow him to be seen as the fiscally responsible. We should be the ones cutting spending. And we should be ridiculing him for trying to appear to care about spending levels after what he's done.
