GORE GETS THE LAST LAUGH...
Edited on Tue Nov-13-07 12:18 AM by polichick
I've been chuckling about this all evening ~ what a clever move!

Gore said in October that he was considering how best to use his position to speed up global warming initiatives ~ and what better way in a capitalist society to speed something along than to show how much money can be made from it?? Gore and his global warming pals will soon have the whole Republican party eating right out of their hands ~ those greedy fuckers will be begging to pony up their precious pennies for a piece of the green technology action, when it would've taken Congress decades to pass enough legislation to make a difference.

I'll be smiling when I fall asleep tonight!

1. What's absurd is these assholes never thought of it.
Think how successful Detroit would be right now if they'd led in green vehicles. But nooooooooo.

2. It truly is absurd...
But they're for protecting the status quo as long as they can ~ now that it's inevitable that people are going to make big bucks on this, they won't be left behind. I'm actually thrilled by this announcement!

11. They'll probably be more than willing to invest...
Just as an average citizen I started investing in green technology many years ago ~ now it will be safer to step it up. Nothing would please me more than to be a part of this particular REVOLUTION!

12. If they trusted him enough to put him on their Boards, they wouldn't
mind getting behind any start up he finds worthy.

4. Frankly, I'm disappointed in his choosing
to work for a venture capital firm- and I don't care that they invest in green energy. It's still a venture capital firm- and the funds don't ordinarily go to the guy with a good idea. That's not how it works.

8. This particular group is wildly rich already....
They're looking at the long term and, surprisingly, at doing the "right" things to save our country.

These are some of the smartest people our country has ever produced and they KNOW that there is money to be made in "green" technology.

Since Repukes and Fundies hate science, it's up to people like this to change our way of life. I think they can and will.

14. Not that kind? Better look at some of their current ventures
Nothing wrong with them, but to say that they are anything but a typical Venture Capital firm isn't so. KPCB is in the business of making money and if they see an opportunity partnering with Al Gore more power to them

7. I'm really pleased about this too! On the other hand...

it makes a point that capitalists, free marketers, and corporations love to tout. And that is that government is too inefficient to get anything done. Of course our government has seen much better days than since Bushco crashed the party (literally), although I wonder how many corporations would agree.

It will be a long road to rebuild or replace our existing, ailing government and we simply don't have time to mess around. This is a big dilemma. I think Gore is wise to not hitch his wagon to a dying system, however I am also concerned for the chronic corruption and very probable fatal disease that has gripped our government. And its death couldn't please corporations more. Let us choose our leadership carefully, wherever it emerges.

10. Seems Congress makes the capitalists' point pretty well these days...
It really would have been unwise for Gore to hitch his wagon to that fading star. Someone else will have to clean up the mess in DC (it isn't the best use of Gore's time and talents anyway) ~ but, you're right, we'll have to be very careful choosing that leader.

I still have the feeling another person is yet to make his or her appearance.

15. It's too bad, Al Gore was over qualified for the Presidency, according to the corporate media,

he was the smartest person in the room and they couldn't deal with that, but there is some consolation to me taken in your post.

Thanks for the thread, polichick.

16. Well, they may have a point..
in two straight election cycles , the dumbest guy in the room was "chosen" over the smartest. Even if the elections were fixed, tens of millions of people voted for the idiot chimp TWICE.
