Edwards campaign responds to Sen. Clinton's attack on his health care ad
from email:

Chapel Hill, North Carolina – Today, John Edwards for President communications director Chris Kofinis released the following statement:

"Today, Senator Clinton made it crystal clear where she stands: she defends health care for politicians while millions of Americans and their families go without care.

“Voters have a clear choice between John Edwards, who will fight to finally pass universal health care, and Senator Clinton, who seems intent on defending the Washington establishment.

“When John Edwards is president, he will name names and the American people will know which members of Congress are taking the money of big insurance company lobbyists and voting against universal health care while protecting their own health care. And unlike what happened in 1993, John Edwards will never kill legislation to give health care to ordinary people while letting the politicians keep their coverage.”

1. Edwards failed to vote against the Omnibus bill in 2004 (giving Medicare to pharma)
With such a voting record, maybe he should be more careful in accusing others.

3. Yes he did.
And when I was very young, I though Duran Duran was a great band. Have you ever changed your view on anything?

6. You really think portraying his record in the Senate as a youthful indiscretion is the way to go?

11. How's this then,
As an adult I voted for Clinton twice, and I lived to regret it. Is that more current for you. Grow a sense of humor.

14. Of the omnibus bill? I don't know.
Though Kerry & Edwards had to miss quite a few votes in 2004 while campaigning so it would not be all that surprising.

16. Then how do you know what you're talking about.
It should be easy to source your info. I remember a lot of bad shit coming out of the republican controlled senate those days.

I don't care that his stands on some issues were different from now. I believe he has evolved and will deliver on what he is saying NOW.

27. sure, people change their minds all the time
and when doing so, most of us are careful not to be smug, holier than thou self-righteous hypocrites about it.

That being said, I think it's more likely that Edwards has changed his approach rather than his mind.

7. Not the tune he was singing three years ago...
When he criticized Gephardt for proposing a universal system, and even John Kerry for proposing one that was too expensive...

But this is just the latest in his effort to get anyone and everyone to forget he had a record, or said anything before 2007...

18. Re: And Hillary can't run far enough away from her clusterf--k in 1993
Hillary blew all of Bill's political capital in 1993 with her "my way or the highway" approach to health care. She couldn't even get the Democratic committee chairs in Congress to support her top down plan.

Just keep pedaling your counter-crap to cover up Hillary's COLOSSAL failure in 1993! Nothing any other candidate has done or failed to do comes close to that disaster!

47 million Americans can thank Hillary today for that failure.

20. John Edwards cosponsorship & selling IWR to the American people ring any bells?
Nearly 4000 US servicemen and women can't "thank" him for that failure.

29. I believe him,
and will continue to believe him unless he is caught planting shills at a townhall meeting.

Kucinich has my vote and support, but I would consider Edwards as a compromise candidate.
I won't be voting for anyone to the right of John Edwards.
