Colorado Supreme Court Gives Green Light to Restore Personhood to the Unborn
After weeks of review, the Colorado Supreme Court has just released a decision granting Colorado for Equal Rights permission to move forward with a ballot initiative to restore personhood to human beings from the moment of conception.

Presidential candidate Dr. Alan Keyes, along with American Life League Founder Judie Brown, will speak about the necessity of such an initiative.

Colorado for Equal Rights will now begin gathering the 76,000 signatures required to put this issue on the November Ballot. This Constitutional Amendment will redefine the term "Person" in three parts of the Colorado Constitution to mean from the moment of fertilization.

Despite two unanimous votes from the Title Board, the petition was appealed based on claims that it dealt with more than one issue. The Colorado Supreme Court ruled that the petition was, indeed, a single-subject issue and affirmed previous rulings by the Title Board.

"We fully expected this positive decision from the Colorado Supreme Court. We are pleased that they supported the Title Board's previous decisions. Plans to begin our petition drive are underway," stated Kristi Burton, spokesperson of Colorado for Equal Rights.

1. We already have the "cemetary" vote
So we might as well have the "unborn" vote too. I'm waiting for the vampire, zombie and werewolf vote petitions to start.

7. I don't think this will pass
It's taken awhile, but people in CO are getting fed up with this kind of fundy right wing grandstanding. There's a reason why CO has gone from a 5-2 House deficit to a 4-3 advantage. Not to mention a Dem. governor , Dem controlled statehouse (for the first time in 40 years), and a real good shot at having two Democratic Senators after next November.

8. The drive to limit access to abortions is epidemic across the country.
They figure if they can't outlaw them on the federal level, they have every intention of making them inaccessible with outrageous regulations, etc. on the local level. I process grants for fighting these vigilante legal teams across the nation who are as insidious as they are persistent.

9. it's a constant fight, that's for sure
But I'm really hopeful that the tide is turning. There are some states where they will be able to pass things like this, but the demographics and, I think, a changing public opinion are on our side. If CO, a state that was solidly red just 4 years ago, can reject this amendment, that will be a very good sign. It will mean that a really basic fundamental change is taking place.

3. I hope they realize equal rights means for equal, surely the next step
they will take is ensuring that gay individuals can legally wed to insure they receive the same rights as all americans and not continue to be treated as second class citizens, surely they should continue to get rights even when out of the womb.

I honestly despise these type of people, they have a difficult time understanding priorities, a waste of our court system while issues that need attention continue to be ignored.
