Women's Caucus of California Democratic Party Votes to Censure Feinstein
With Progressive Democrats of America women at the microphone, the Women's Caucus of the California Democratic Party
voted Friday, November 16, 2007, to support a resolution to censure Senator Dianne Feinstein.
Marcy Winograd, President of Progressive Democrats of Los Angeles, urged the caucus meeting in
Anaheim, to denounce Feinstein for her vote to confirm Mukasey as Attorney General and support the Kyl-Lieberman amendment labeling the Iran Revolutionary Guard a terrorist organization.

"Women in America have a proud history of activism," said Winograd, adding, "we chained ourselves to the White House to secure the right to vote. To support a woman senator whose voting record affirms torture, the unitary executive, and a petext for war on Iran is
to betray our proud history." Dorothy Reik, President of Progressive Democrats of the Santa Monica Mountains,
weighed in at the microphone also, saying, "While it's true that we want women to represent us in the House and Senate, Feinstein -- with her endorsement of water boarding, torture, and the appointment of a homophobic
judge -- does not represent women." Winograd and Reik were attending the California Democratic Party Executive Board meeting.

The chair of the CDP Women's Caucus said she had invited Senator Feinstein to address the caucus, but that the senator had declined. As a result of the censure vote, the Women's Caucus will send a strong letter of disapproval to Feinstein, one of California's two women senators. Unlike Senator Barbara Boxer, however, Feinstein has repeatedly disgraced her party -- voting for the Iraq war and
ever-expanding war funding. Critics of the move to censure Feinstein argued the senator should not be singled out for a few bad votes. With the Courage Campaign, PDA, and Moveon.org joining the Censure Feinstein campaign, the senator has already tacked back, reversing her intention to vote to grant immunity for giant telecom companies complicit in the Bush administration's illegal spying program.

2. Yep, DiFi needs to get a clue, and now I'm sure she has. It's already helped move her
on Tele-Com immunity for violating our rights and our laws.

Very good!

7. No, I'm not dreaming. If she doesn't 'get it', she's willfully ignorant
and shouldn't be in the Senate in the first place.

9. Obviously the action has already had an impact since she is
reversing her stand on the very important immunity for telecom spies vote. Thank you, ladies!

14. People keep saying that, but she didn't really reverse her stand. She voted
for immunity last week, but Leahy refused to let it out fo committee with immunity. He overruled somehow and put the bill up for a committee vote without immunity as a possibility.

10. The only language these people understand is to be voted out of office!
DiFi has been the same slime ball today as she was when she rose to power over the assassinated bodies of George Moscone and Harvey Milk.

Who voted to reelect her?
