about the Hillary - Novak connection

If Novakula was doing Hillary's bidding the story would have been:

"Democratic insider circles are buzzing that evidence of a highly damaging Obama scandal is making the rounds, but no competing campaign is willing to use it at this time, because it is too radioactive."

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but when you think about it it's pretty damn basic that the Clinton campaign would have ZERO interest in being named as the source. In fact, it is difficult to tell whether the Novak piece as published is more of a slam on Obama or Clinton.

This puts me in mind of another great piece of "negative evidence," about playing through what would have happened if certain assumptions were true.

In UFO circles there's a set of documents dealing with MK-Ultra (or is it MI-Ultra? I forget), a top-secret captured crashed saucer program. The evidence includes secret executive directives and detailed minutes of White House meetings on Ultra. The documents have been exposed as forgeries by diligent researchers locating the mundane documents the different Truman signatures were xeroxed from, but the best evidence against MK-Ultra is the minutes of all the non MK-Ultra meetings involving the same cabinet and military people.

The same people who were cleared for Ultra had hundreds of equally top-secret meetings on national security that have been declassified 50 years later, and for some reason they sat around talking about whether saucer sightings were of Russian air craft for years after supposedly capturing an actual downed saucer full of dead aliens. Even more mysterious, these top-secret national security meetings blather on and on about Russian air defenses and submarines as the top security threat facing America, even though everyone in the room supposedly knew that space aliens were buzzing the capitol and landing all over the place kidnapping Americans. It's pretty surreal.

So if Hillary and Novak colluded to release a story, why on Earth was it published in a way to be most damning to the Clinton campaign?

whatever else I think is true about the Clinton's, inept politicians isn't on the list.

Some low level no-nothing gossiped about the rumor going around about some candidate ( it's never said if it as Dem or a Rep) and speculated it was Obama. Novak conflates it into a Clinton agent, blah, blah, blah. Hell Novak could have got it third hand, who knows.

I know a lot of DUers were speculating it was Thompson. People like to do that kind of thing,lol, just look at all the gossip rags out there. DUers like to do it too.

I'd say it's Novak being Novak.

But since the story is that the Clinton campaign is disseminating the rumor, then everyone in DC ought to know about it... no need for it to come to Novak through Clinton.

If the story is accurate, there's no reason to attribute it to Clinton because the story says it's a shopped rumor known to many Dem insiders.

And if it is not accurate, it certainly wouldn't come from Clinton.

I suspect it is accurate. Clinton people have probably mentioned a rumor to people, and rumors get around and that's probably how Novak knows about it. No reason I know of to think Clinton is above the sleazy side of politics.

My only beef is with the idea that Clinton planted it with Novak.

The original piece was damning to Clinton in saying she was shopping slime.

It was damning to Obama only if the slime was true, but puts the Clinton campaign in a bad light either way... even shopping true slime is not popular. (Whatever fuck-up is attributed to Obama is after the fact.)

Since Clinton and Obama both suffer from the piece in different ways, and they are the Dem front-runners, the real beneficiaries are Edwards and Republicans.

And since Novakula is a Republican, I'd need to see more before dismissing the possibility that it is old fashioned Republican "rat-fucking"

But you got the story wrong. MK-Ultra (and it's sister programs, MK-Delta and Naomi) had nothing to do with flying saucers. They were (and this has all been admitted to with evidence beyond dispute) experiments into mind control (Ultra) and biological weapons (Delta, Naomi was the manufacture and storage arm for both). Ultra started in the mid-fifties with Delta and Naomi being created shortly thereafter. All three were defunded and shut down in the early seventies. That they existed is indisputable, the only question is how much success they had (since they were defunded, I'd guess not much).

I think you're thinking of MAJIC-12 (sometimes MAJESTIC) which is the alleged program to recover UFO technology and is probably bunk for all the reasons already explained.
