Poll question: Who would you rather have Thanksgiving dinner with?
No, this is not the Presidential candidates. This is political journalists, pundits and activists. So many to choose from...

Forget having a beer with someone... she looks like someone you could have a few large cocktails with. :)

3. none of the above.
I'm happy spending thanksgiving with the 19 delightful people I'll be spending it with: An artisan cheesemaker, a newspaper editior, an architect, 2 horticulturists, a music teacher and assorted wonderful kids.

19. Helen Thomas WOULD have been my first choice
But I have dinner with her a couple of times a year anyway,
so I picked Keith Olbermann, as I have never met him.

Chomsky was a close second.

For those who have never met Helen, and picked her--wise choice!

32. I rather doubt I could compete in her league!
She happened to be a decades-long friend/colleague of my father's,
and so the rest of my family has known her for close to forever.
I'll be seeing her again in Washington in January. We haven't set
the time and place, yet, although her favorite Lebanese place, Mama
Ayesha's, off Connecticut Avenue, was AWESOME! She often has breakfast
at a hotel downtown, where this was taken last May, with my younger daughter
and my wife:

22. Keith...He's fit right in with everyone in our family in so many ways.
The guys would love his talk on sports and politics and appreciate his kind of humor. The girls would love his discussions on politics, his humor and gazing into his eyes. I'd make him remove his glasses before dinner so I could bet a better look deep into his beautiful soul.

PS I'd also ask him to invite Helen Thomas as his dinner guest. lol
Oh what a ball we would have!

But I'd really rather get him under the mistletoe. :loveya:

You can't invite Wolf Blitzer over for Thanksgiving unless he was on the menu, he's the biggest damn turkey there is.

29. Noam Chomsky. I have a few bones to pick with his Minimalist Program.
Edited on Tue Nov-20-07 06:48 PM by Basileus Basileon
As elegant as it is (and as happy as anything that might kill X-bar syntax makes me), it still does not correspond to actual language development in humans nearly as well as connectionist theories do, nor do Chomsky's theories predict many actual grammatical mistakes made by adults.

Also, I would so get his autograph and photograph myself with him and get him to say the entire IPA alphabet and make it my ringtone.

33. None of the above
I view Thanksgiving as a day to spend quality time with my family that I don't get to see but a few times a year.

This is a day to enjoy each other, catch up, watch all the little kiddos play around. It's a day to relax with each other and let the other problems drift by for the day. I'd rather have a Thanksgiving like that, than a political one. I already do the political thing almost every other day.

36. Helen Thomas.
Chomsky would be my second choice, but Thomas is wonderful. I saw her speak last year locally. She's been in the press covering so many presidents, I'm not sure which was the first one. Eisenhower would be my guess. She's ancient but as sharp as a tack.
