George Bush endorsed Clinton today. Enough said.

President Bush and First Lady Laura Bush said Tuesday that Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's experience as first lady has prepared her to handle the "pressure" of a presidential race and the White House, and the president said he believes Clinton will win the Democratic nomination but lose the presidency next year.

That's not an endorsement. It's a pisspoor prediction, and it doesn't matter if you support Clinton or not, you have to know that his prediction isn't coming true.

Bush even predicted she will lose the General Election after saying he thought she would get the nomination. Nobody who endorses someone predicts that they'll lose the election. Wake up.

that they want her to win the nomination. I never seen the repuks so into broadcasting her win for the nomination. I just don't trust them at all. They have something up there sleeves or they know if Hillary wins the nomination they might have a chance to get the white house back? We can't take any chances here guys we need this bad. I am not a true Hillary supporter but if she does take win the nomination I will support the Democratic candidate.

I think they want her to win. Don't get me wrong I am ready for a women president but I don't know if the United States is. I am saying this and I a women that would love to see one in the white house.

If half of the voters would not consider voting for Hillary, what the heck can we do? This would translate into a 2 to 1 landslide when it becomes apparent that not all the rest would vote for hillary.

If you don't live in a bubble, you know that there are a lot of moderates who don't trust hillary. It is not just the repukes.

heck, there are a lot of dems who don't trust her.

Half of likely voters nationwide said they would never vote for New York Sen. Hillary Clinton, in a poll Zogby conducted Oct. 11-15, 2007, with a margin of error of +/– 1.0 percentage point.

"This is up from 46% who said they could never vote for Clinton in a Zogby International telephone survey conducted in early March," the poll asserts. "Older voters are most resistant to Clinton – 59% of those age 65 and older said they would never vote for the New York senator, but she is much more acceptable to younger voters: 42% of those age 18–29 said they would never vote for Clinton for President."

Of course George Bush is going to sound sympatico to her. They want her to loose.

That doesn't make any sense.

Generally one does not assert that the candidate they are "endorsing" is set to lose.

And I could not picture Bush saying this to any other dem. This is too close for comfort especially when all repubs or most are distancing themselves from Bush. So she won't win the presidency he say's? Why would this be? I don't know many who trust Bush, and I along with many have a mistrust for Hillary. I'll just leave that one up in the air. Enough said.

Obviously I'm not a Clinton supporter, but I gotta call bullshit foul on your title. What Bush said is not an endorsement.

Bush merely stated his opinion that Hillary would win the Democratic nomination. How does that reflect badly on Hillary? It by no means translates to "Bush wants Hillary to win the nomination because they have a secret pact to continue the war and all things republican."

In fact, Bush also said that he believes she would lose in the general. If he endorsed her, wouldn't he be stating the many reasons why he thinks she should win? Isn't that what endorsements typically do?

Can I ask you to offer some alternatives? Some that come to mind for me are...

1. Bush endorses Hillary's experience for the Democratic nomination

2. Bush believes Hillary is the best candidate for the democratic nomination

Any other wording you can come up with? :shrug:

...I don't really care how you word it, as long as you don't insinuate that he endorsed her. That's a really specific political move and his statement wasn't even close to it.

So for anyone who reads this....I'd change the post to "Bush calls Dem nomination for Hillary". Then make of it whatever you like.

There was no lie. GW endorsed her with his statements today. If you are good with that, fine. I do not think he has 'approved' of any of the other Dem candidates as of yet. When he does...let me know.

I'm not a fan of Hillary Clinton... but Bush's words about her, taken at face value, are a fairly accurate assessment. She's got an excellent chance to be the Democratic Party's nominee, she definitely does have the experience, the intelligence, the political savvy, the financial backing and the "rhinocerous hide" required to run a successful Presidential campaign, and she arguably is a formidable opponent for *any* GOP candidate.

Of course, this statement is just whistling in the dark:

"I do believe our candidate will beat her, if she happens to be the nominee"

Of course, Bush may not even really believe that but of course he has to say it anyway :P
