For those who thought Oprah didn't make any difference? -> Sweet scoop: Oprah to stump for Obama
Now when the timing is crucial Oprah Winfrey is poised to campaign for Barack Obama.

Obama made the disclosure after delivering an education policy speech. A man asked Obama who was mingling and shaking hands if Oprah was going to stump for Obama in New Hampshire.

“First she’s coming to Iowa,” Obama told a Mr.Hoagland, who in 1963 was a co-founder of what is now the giant CVS pharmacy chain. “But we’ll talk about it. We’ll get her up here.”

A woman piped up. “We need her here.”

“Is she thinking of not coming up to New Hampshire?” Hoagland asked?

Obama replied, “No, no no. We’re just doing it one state at a time.”

The Obama campaign has long hoped Winfrey, who hosted a massive fund-raiser for Obama would be willing to go on the stump for him. Winfrey opened her Montecito, Calif. estate to Obama on Sept. 8 for a star-studded fund-raiser that took in about $3 million for Obama.

1. What's great about this is she will make people think about voting, period.
She does have a lot of fans, so this is a mega GOTV, regardless of who people vote for. Win-win!

and of course, Carol Moseley-Braun, who is also from Chicago.

Oh, wait a minute. She DIDN'T endorse any of those people!

I guess there goes THAT theory. But it's so much fun to imply such things anyway and hope that no one notices!

his supporters act like the Holy Grail has been found. BUT HELL'S BELLS. Just let a person support the next president of the United States Hillary Clinton and the mess their pants all day long...Who in the hell cares is Oprah helps Obama...he won't win one state. none single solitary state. People don't care who Oprah likes, all the want is for her to give them gifts. Why do you think they go to her shows...the gifts, the gifts...

And I'll bet a good number of them are ready to be influenced in Iowa, NH, and South Carolina.

Since Obama has begun to lead with female likely caucus goers in Iowa, his announcement couldn't have come at
a better time.

95. Me neither...
Don't watch her, don't care what she says. I know why she supports Obama, and so does everyone else, despite the fact that no one else will say it. Because he's black. Not because he's her friend, or that they go to the same church, or that she thinks he's the messiah, or anything else. It's because he's black. When she said that she has never endorsed any other candidate, it was clear to me.(read; never endorsed any WHITE candidate) That's fine, but I think she could have been honest about it, instead she danced all around it on Larry King. And then kicked it all with "I do think this country is ready for a black president".

I guess the country will tell us if they are or aren't ready for a black president come next November.....

Oprah held a fundraiser for Obama a while back at some fancy hotel. They needed the ballroom to do the fundraiser, but there was a wedding that was supposed to take place there at the same time, so Oprah got the hotel to reschedule the wedding ceremonies so that they could hold the fundraiser. It pissed off the bride & groom BIG TIME.

I got some facts wrong, it wasn't a "hotel", it was a ranch that is near Oprah's mansion. The ranch was all booked up, but Oprah needed some rooms for her geust, so she got the ranch to cancel some of the rooms so her guests could stay there. 60. That's not true
Oprah was having a fundraiser for Obama at her own house. There was a large hotel nearby where Oprah's staff had hoped to house some of the out-of-town guests, but the hotel didn't have enough rooms because of a wedding there. The New York Post reported that an "anonymous source" claimed that Obama's staff asked the hotel to move the wedding party, but they deny having done that and the hotel said that didn't happen. Instead, the hotel said that wedding party cancelled a few of their sleeping rooms, but the wedding went off as planned.

Be careful about believing everything you read - especially if the original source is the New York Post's Page Six.

- calling Democratic State Legislators "girly men" in 2003?
- going full goose loony behind a special election in 2005 to get 4 right-wing ballot initiatives passed, only to have his hat handed to him by CA voters?
- after being humbled, scrambling like a craven coward toward the middle in order to save his political career?
- having an Austrian member of parliament introduce legislation in 2005 to revoke Der Gropenbungler's citizenship because his support of the death penalty does damage to Austria's reputation?
- tripping over his ski pole on a green-level hill and breaking his leg in 2006?

44. Hasselbeck won't be there. She still on Maternity leave.
And probably wouldn't be able to defend Hillary anyways. However, Hillary shrill Joy Beher will be there.

No woman in America commands the admiration and respect that Oprah does. I'm happy to have her on our side.

Disputed Book Pulled From Oprah Web Site
By HILLEL ITALIE – Nov 6, 2007

NEW YORK (AP) — Oprah Winfrey has pulled a discredited children's book, Forrest Carter's "The Education of Little Tree," from a list of recommended titles on her Web site, blaming an archival "error" for including a work considered the literary hoax of a white supremacist.

"The archived listing was posted in error and has been removed," Winfrey spokeswoman Angela DePaul told The Associated Press on Tuesday, adding that she did not know long "Little Tree" had been on the site.

Edited on Wed Nov-21-07 03:03 AM by ClarkUSA
Nice news to start the Thanksgiving weekend with -- it should get a big buzz building up
for the next month. Now Hillaryworld will try to snag someone big in the media that's a
supporter to campaign for them -- like Rupert Murdoch, for instance.

lol

79. Yes, the Hillaryous inevitabilty meme is shrivelling up as she keeps sinking in both IA & NH polls.
The "flawless campaign" meme is definitely dead and buried. Remember that one?
