Then again, I don't even remember when I first started browsing these pages. My guess is probably 2001 or 2002.

I know we have journals, but they aren't anywhere near the same.

Maybe it's just nostalgia for the pre-Iraq but post-Bush-v-Gore days, when the Liberal Proto-Blogosphere was beginning to really spin up.

He retired those accounts when he needed to make a new persona.. why would someone need a new persona? Not sure why myself, but he claims most vociferously to not have any other retired screen names.

I had an account back in 2002-2004; I let that one die after getting depressed by Kerry's loss. I killed KR and RB when I got sick of people stalking me--I get tired of pathetic minds trying to change the subject from my ideas to me.

I considered letting BB die and just walking away from DU after the very first day of posting, in which you (and a crop of like-minded "progressives") decided I was the Second Coming of Zandor. But frankly, no. I'm not running or hiding any more. It's easier on me if I'm anonymous, but I shouldn't have to slip into shadows to avoid you and those like you. You're a pack of bullies. I've decided enough is enough, and I'm not going to give in to the shame squad.

You can follow me around all you like, but I'm not going to hide from what I've said, nor am I going to leave this forum. You're also not going to get me banned, no matter how often you propose they do that on other forums. The mods are aware of my history, and have not found me to be violating any rule. Your Javertian obsession isn't getting you anywhere.

I'd like to get back to just talking about the issues and the horse races. I don't like having to fend off constant slurs and allegations. So knock it off, already.

Do I understand right that you were KR and RB? If so, KR is still active, meaning you have 2 active accounts.

actually delete an account, so I simply scrambled the email and password and logged out. You can search if you like, but you won't find a single overlapping post. The account is "active" in that it has not been tombstoned, but is not active in that there is no way to access it, and no posts have been made from it since I abandoned it.

The no-duplicates rule is to prevent sockpuppeting, which is having more than one active account for the purpose of either trolling or making it seems as if there is a false consensus. Since this is roughly the tenth time someone has brought this up here (and it is a subject of abject fascination on another site) I don't think you're bringing anything new to the table here.

that nothing good ever comes from divulging any information about myself. Y'all twist it and then try to use it to get me banned. Now, take the meme that I have "divulged myself as a former troll?" I admitted to trolling Christian/RW boards back in '99-'00, and then explained several tactics of trolls, so that others might better recognize them. While indicative of immaturity during my teenaged years, I don't think "trolling sites of the opposite political opinion before DU even existed" is a bannable offense.

but Skinner, Elad and EarlG have done a great job keeping up with the growth, technologically speaking. Still, the old days when things were a bit more intimate and casual were great...

I remember that post about the class size....the post count must be off because I see Rebellious Republican, an old buddy I have not seen here lately...was welcoming me to DU.

I see JCMach1 was running for office. We supported him though in another district, and his own Democrats supported the Republican in the race. Go figure...that's how Florida Democrats are. :shrug:

I had not registered but came here to read. This was the first place I found where I felt I could get real news about what was going on. I got hooked and I'm still coming here to find out what is happening. I do remember thinking that the discussions were mostly intelligent and not very rancorous. Not like the kind of thing that we see here so often today. Yes, there were disagreements but they seemed to be less heated. Or is that looking at the past through rose colored glasses?

I wasn't around back then, but O! would this have been my favorite feature!

The current logo is nice, it's very professional; the earlier version evokes a more "underground" feeling.
Then, too, the DU icon in my browser's address bar makes more sense. It's that earlier font type. :think:

I saw some of his posts from 2002 in that link that madfloridian provided.

Jiacinto always responded to my math-oriented theories, and even if I didn't always agree with him he knew voting tendencies of specific counties and demographics, things that helped with my research.
