Edwards Statement On Saudi Rape Victim's Sentence
Nov 21, 2007 2:46 PM

Chapel Hill, North Carolina – Today, Senator John Edwards released the following statement:

“Today’s news that a Saudi Arabian court has chosen to punish the victim of a gang rape is an appalling breach of the most fundamental human rights. I am outraged that President Bush has refused to condemn the sentence. We need a president who will reengage with the world and restore our moral authority - only then will we be able to lead other nations in protecting the basic rights and human dignity of every person on this planet.”

I'm happy to see John Edwards addressing this crucial human rights issue and willingness to speak out on allowed abuses of the government of a U.S. ally.

3. Good on Edwards !
And good on Cali for actually saying something positive about another candidate besides Hillary !

Maybe there's hope for us all still !

4. ah, if only you could tell the truth
but i won't hold out hope for such an unlikely event. I praise most of the candidates, and criticize most of them. Of the top three, Obama is my favorite.. I criticize Clinton frequently; in fact, I posted two threads yesterday that were critical of her.

I defend Clinton frequently because of all of the candidates she's the one that gets, by and away, the most egregious bullshit attacks.

Alas, there doesn't seem to be hope for you.

6. Thank you John! Edwards is the real feminist in this race!
And with Kate and Elizabeth by his side, he is a wonderful champion for women.

7. right. because Clinton, Obama, Kucinich and others aren't
real feminists. Just sad.

8. Not at all except for Hillary , who is only a feminist for herself when convenient, ALL our
candidates are feminists! I just like John the best and think he is more effective because of Kate and Elizabeth among other reasons.
