Choosing from the field, what would be your fantasy P/V.P. ticket?
I'll start out. For me it would be a Clinton/Obama ticket... That would address my feelings of experience/freshness, dual appealing minorities, hope and practicality... And with the history of incumbancy and VP becoming P, that could set us up for 16 years of (D) dominated leadership....But that is just a fantasy becoming less imaginable each day, especially considering they keep peeing in each others coffee.

So, choosing from the current field of presidential candidtes only, what would be your fantasy, most competitive, greatest complimenting democratic ticket?

1. Obama/Biden.
Edited on Thu Nov-22-07 03:39 AM by silverweb
With Edwards as Attorney General.

Now that team would KICK ASS.

On Edit: Actually, maybe Biden would be better as Secretary of State. Not so sure about VP at the moment.

Of course, none of this is up to us, so it's kind of moot. :D

3. Thanks... and likewise!
Actually, we have a terrific slate of candidates. I don't like all of them equally (obviously!), but I'll support the nominee 100%.

Also, I did edit my post a bit.... :D

:hi:

4. Not really moot...
Because it is SOOOOO important for whomever is our choice to invigorate all democrats to not only support a democratic vote but excite us enough to get all the lame non-voters to get out and vote, and to capture the frustrated republicans. I think a complimentary ticket is so much more important to me and my goals than purely which one is chosen to lead us at this point. It is a question that will be answered soon and think more important than inter-party bashing.

26. I don't mean the pairing is moot.
I agree with you that the candidates should be complementary to each other and able to inspire; a strong ticket is essential.

What I meant was that we don't get to choose the running mate, the nominee does, so all our speculation (as much fun as it is) is moot.

37. See, it's this kind of logic that cracks me up...
Edited on Sun Nov-25-07 09:45 AM by 1corona4u
You'd take a person who's been in politics a total of 10 years, for a president, versus a man who has 35 years of experience...and there is no way in hell Biden will take a back seat to anyone. No way. He can get more done in the senate than he could in any back seat...my prediction...No Biden Vp-for anyone, no Biden SOS.

Biden isn't in this race to gain status. He's in it to clean up the gigantic mess.

5. Al Gore/Howard Dean
Edited on Thu Nov-22-07 03:59 AM by DFW
Well, you DID say fantasy..........

Oops--on edit, you also said from the current field.

Ugh, I'm still undecided.

I want Edwards' dedication, Obama's energy and overall vision,
Biden's public persona, Clinton's thick skin, Kucinich's willingness
to say what's what, and Dodd's overall cool on camera.

Guess I'll have to do some brain tissue transplanting to get what I want.

6. Well I could go with Clinton/Gore
Edited on Thu Nov-22-07 04:09 AM by TAZller
And actually don't think that is beyond the realm of possible. Gore as a VP to just about any current P candidate would be faily exciting. But I hate to invigorate the Vote Gore crowd at this point.

on edit: you're right I should't be changing my own rules. But I do think Gore as V.P. would be interesting.

7. After being VP twice and elected president once
I think the chances of interesting Gore in another round as VP
is about as great as interesting Rudy Giuliani in joining a monastery.

9. Limited to the current field, I would say Edwards stands the best chance in the general.
The polling done shows he would beat any combo of Repubs by the widest or near widest margins out there.

I think, if she is nominated, this would be her absolute best choice. For several reasons.

Part of Clinton's appeal is the staff that she'll have supporting/advising her. Wes Clark being a major reason I am still considering supporting her.

31. Rumored to be a done deal
I'll start with the weakest of scoops that I have to offer you. I was out sailing recently and one of the guys I was with told me his brother had been at an event with General Wesley Clark, who quietly told him that he was locked and loaded as Hillary Clinton's running mate.

17. Clinton/Richardson, of those 'running' but Clinton/Clark makes more sense.
I can see either of those happening. But the VP pick might not from one who is in he running now. Lieberman and Edwards showed that's not really a good idea.

would seem to have ruined our chances to field such an excellent ticket.

22. If LBJ could be vice president for JFK,
anyone could be vice president for anyone, IMO.

I think the Clinton-Obama 2008 ticket would be our best chance for 16 straight years of democrats in the presidency.

19. If the ticket had to be forged from our announced 8 candidates, I like
most combinations for a White House victory over most of the Pukes' potential tickets.

The greatest Puke threat would come from a ticket such as John Danforth/Rob Portman, which is so not going to happen since rightwing nutbags think John Danforth is a "liberal," and right now they're beginning to coalesce around Huckabee.

If we put in the hours in grassroots organization and run it tight and right, I like our chances.

Edwards-Richardson would take a sizable chunk of the electoral college, as would Biden-Richardson.

Obama-Dodd would be an energized ticket.

So I guess those three as the most potent for an electoral win:

Edwards-Richardson
Biden-Richardson
Obama-Dodd

For my part, I would love to see Bill Bradley as our veep nom.

23. Richardson/Obama
Best combo of experience and idealism and energy, though a Richardson/Edwards ticket would be pretty good too.

It has the added bonus of giving Obama a little higher-level experience for his expected 2016 run.

Of course, I'm not sure that either Obama or Edwards would even consider the VP slot.
