1. I trust you've made a prayerful decision about this issue?

3. I understand where this is coming from.
For me, the McClurkin incident was very bothersome. I'm gay and I just felt completely thrown under the bus by the way Barack handled that.

Secondly, I'm a woman and I don't like the way Barack used the word "prayerful" about my legal right to choose to abort. Had he said, "thoughtful" I would agree.....the choice of "prayerful" as a word (and I know the context in which it was used) really bothered me.

You get the sense that the "Reverand" Barack Obama is running for President. I most certainly don't mean this in a hateful way...just observing how 2 different incidents bothered me.

16. But as long as he didn't say "prayerful", voting against choice is okay.
I guess.

7. allthough I'm not one myself, the majority of democrats are christians.
only they are the sane ones who believe in separation of church and state. Sen. Obama is one of those. I don't believe for one second he has a christian agenda he plans on injecting into policy making. Not for one second.

15. Quit being so logical. This is Democratic Underground
Home of purists who will not tolerate anything less than utterly perfect adherence to their pet issues in their Democratic candidates.

9. "No Jew can be President" - Eric Cartman.
That's right. Not that they're not qualified, not that people might not like Jews...but nobody in the Democratic Party would give a chance for a Jew to be nominated. Just like they know an African-American President would be lynched quickly, a Jewish President would be...oh, I dunno, put in a gas chamber or something.

Seriously, this is crap. Either Democrats are willing to face down racism, religious prejudice and fear...or they're all wearing pink tutus. They're "saving" Obama from being lynched by preventing him from becoming the candidate. And if there was a brilliant, charismatic Jewish guy - let's say the progressive version of Henry Kissinger - he could never be anything greater than an assistant to the President.

How did I wind up with such a cowardly party?

12. Then you probably don't want to watch this video:
In June of 2006, Senator Obama delivered what was called the most important speech on religion and politics in 40 years. Speaking before an evangelical audience, Senator Obama candidly discussed his own religious conversion and doubts, and the need for a deeper, more substantive discussion about the role of faith in American life.

"(Obama's speech on faith) may be the most important pronouncement by a Democrat on faith and politics since John F. Kennedy's Houston speech in 1960 declaring his independence from the Vatican...Obama offers the first faith testimony I have heard from any politician that speaks honestly about the uncertainties of belief."
-E.J. Dionne, Op-Ed., Washington Post, June 30, 2006
