1. I'd heard about it earlier today. Larry does his research. It may explain the sudden resignation.
Edited on Tue Nov-27-07 02:34 PM by CottonBear
Of course, Lott may just want to cash in on the lobbyist job before the new ethics rules become law but the timing and suddeness of the resignation announcement seems sort of suspicious.

Fom Larry Flynt's web site:

HUSTLER RESPONDS:

HUSTLER Magazine has received numerous inquiries regarding the involvement of Larry Flynt
and HUSTLER in the resignation of Trent Lott. Senator Lott has been the target of an ongoing HUSTLER investigation for some time now, due to confidential information that we have received.

7. That's not possible
Mississippi is like Iran, there are no gays here.

Hello Dear. Cold and sunny today. I got Yellow Pansies on the southside of the house around a Pine Tree, gets dappled sunshine all day. They are growing and beautiful. We also have a dukes mixture of Pansies, Snapdragons and Dianthus around the Crepe Myrtles lining our driveway on the westside. They get more sun. I told the wife I was angling for the minimalist assymetrical symetry look (I almost know what that means.) She picked up on the minimalist note and approved. Coloring more with less. She went home to Momma for thanksgiving and I got the Christmas Tree up for her return tomorrow afternoon. Have to pick her up at the NOLA airport so we'll probably lunch in the quarter. I hope you have the merriest of seasons.

Hello BOSS! How have you been? Keep angling for the "minimalist asymmetrical symmetry look"! ;)

I've was out of town for the Thanksgiving holiday and thus out of contact with DU and you! (I've no computer at home anymore :( )

It's been cold and wet here but today is sunny and cool. We needed the rain. It rained on T-Day and on Sunday and Monday. Our regional reservoir rose 2 feet but we are still 18" down in rainfall for 2007. We're on a total outdoor watering ban and are conserving as much as possible indoors.

Your pansies must be just beautiful and I love snapdragons! A friend of mine has some pink ones that are STILL blooming and have been since April! I've got a pink rose that is still putting out beautiful rosebuds and my Ageratum (ultraviolet purple perennial border) is lovely! My Nandinas have wonderful clusters of red berries and my crepe myrtle tree has given me a carpet of incredible golden orange leaves on my patio (and in my fish pond/fountain!)

Travel safely to NOLA and the airport! I've flown into NOLA! I miss it so! Please raise a toast to NOLA for me when y'all are dining in the quarter! That was nice of you to pick out the tree for your wife! I'm going to get a little Fraser Fir from western NC (my home state). There is a tree grower from near Boone, NC who sets up shop near my home every year. Fraser Firs smell so good! Have fun decorating for the holidays and the merriest of seasons to you too!

Take care and Happy Holidays to you both! :hi: :toast:

Edited on Tue Nov-27-07 05:34 PM by BOSSHOG
give em a little care through the winter and they dick around and hang around and look kinda good then one day in March they decide they are gonna be the show girls of the Yard. And I have been very lucky over the past few years with flower beds. I got some cosmically fertile soil and mix and cow poop and mulch and stuff that the annuals love year round. Our Little pitiful Nandinas are chock full of berries. The mocking birds will get drunk on them. The Nandinas are on the north side of the house and most likely don't get enough sun but they are doing fine. There is one in town that is eight feet tall. We put some camellias on the south side of the house two years ago and they are incredible now. The ones on the north side of the house are very nice plants but the blooming production is pitiful. But they are well groomed. I tend to prune camellias more then most folks. And it pains me to look across the road at the neighbors camellias (on the south side of the front of their house) which are so profuse. UGA coming to the Sugar Bowl?? A computer under your Christmas Tree?? Hang on to that water.

27. Nandinas do best in the sun but will grow almost anywhere.
Edited on Tue Nov-27-07 05:39 PM by CottonBear
I like camellias in their natural state with just minimal pruning. I love the winter blooming variety especially!

UGA will not play for the SEC championship but we are highly ranked in the BCS rankings. Maybe the Sugar Bowl awaits us! I attended the Kentucky game. (It was homecoming and we won!) There was an AWESOME two F-18 fly-over by UGA grads from an Air Force base near Tampa, FL before the game started. I was seated in the upper deck and they flew over Sanford Stadium side by side and so low that I could smell the jet fuel vapors!

I hope to get one of my two broken computers fixed up enough to use at home. My beloved Power Book had a fatal processor frying event and the old desktop Mac doesn't have a working modem. It'll probably be cheaper to eventually (this winter or spring) get a PC laptop. I'm hoping Santa brings me silk thermal undies for when I go to the horse farm in the winter.
:)

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to you and yours! :hi:

9. No he doesn't say that -- Larry Flint ACTUALLY said "No Comment".
There is mention of an on-going'investigation' into Lott but it doesn't specify that it is related to this particular piece or not.

11. As much as I want this to be true...
Benjamin Nicholas has denied any connection with Lott:

Monday, November 26, 2007

And I thought having my family in for Thanksgiving was wild...

It looks like a Washington DC-based blog called BigHeadDC is making claim that there was (or, is) a working relationship between myself and Senator Trent Lott. There are falsely pieced-together quotes that serve no purpose other than to sensationalize a completely fabricated scoop.

I will continue to offer a great sense of confidentiality to the people I see, but I have not, nor have I ever seen or had contact with Senator Trent Lott. It's as simple as that. It never happened.

Benjamin Nicholas

Of course Nicholas could be lying to protect his client list.

12. He is lying IMO - here is the email exchange that started all of this:
http://bigheaddc.com/

MESSAGE ONE:

from Rob Capriccioso
to escort@benjaminnicholas.com,

Hi Benjamin,

I’m an editor with Big Head DC in Washington. A commenter on the site recently said that you and Sen. Trent Lott happened to be vacationing together at the same place on a couple of separate occasions. Could you clarify whether you know Sen. Lott in any way?

I appreciate your help.

All the best,

Rob

I’m a blogger as well, so I’m well aware that nothing in this world is ever truly ‘off-record.’

Trent is going through his fair share of scrutiny right now and I don’t want to add to it. All I can say at this point is no comment. It’s the professional thing for me to do.

MESSAGE THREE:

from Rob Capriccioso
to Benjamin Nicholas ,
date Nov 26, 2007 2:29 PM
subject Re: From Big Head DC
mailed-by gmail.com

I definitely understand what you’re saying about commenting into the blogosphere, Benjamin, and have had it happen to me before. I’m just trying to establish whether you personally know Sen. Lott. A couple of people tipping Big Head DC suggested I contact you, so I thought I’d take a shot. I’m definitely not asking whether you were ever in a relationship with him. Have you been contacted by others about knowing him?

Rob

Yes. I was contacted by Gawker this morning ( Denton is a friend of mine). He’s hot to get an exclusive interview about the possible relationship between the two of us, but I politely declined. As I said before, Lott has quite a bit on his plate right now and I don’t really want to add fuel to the embers.

How did anyone get it in their heads that you even knew Lott?

NO RESPONSE FROM NICHOLAS

Hours later, after we did much more investigating and our piece ultimately went live, Nicholas sent a final message:

Off-the-record, eh? Sheesh.

Here’s my public comment, on-the-record: Sen. Lott and I have no current affiliation with one another. I’m sure he would appreciate no further scrutiny.

There’s no story here Rob.

15. Thanks for the info and the links....
the story gets more interesting. I agree that Nicholas is probably lying now to save his business. How many men will hire an escort if the escort blabs about the relationship? Very few, would be my guess.

17. I agree its in his best interest to deny any relationship
however from the emails its clear he knows him - who refers to Lott on a first name basis if you dont know him? How would he know Lott has a lot on his plate?

As a gay man stories like this fascinate me and scare me - I hate the aftermath and the education the GLBT community has to do to educate people that this type of behavior is not typical of all GLTB forks.

I didn't really believe this could be true about Trent Lott but after reading this:

"Trent is going through his fair share of scrutiny right now and I don’t want to add to it. All I can say at this point is no comment. It’s the professional thing for me to do."

If this is the actual email from this guy, he appears to be staying out of the fray. If he didn't know "Trent" or never met "Trent", then he would just say it and move on. I also notice they're on first name basis. :wow: That's something to think about.

29. larry Flynt is now sticking up for bigheaddc credibility
(a couple bloggers are trying to claim bigheaddc.com is not credible because of an article it ran on the DC Madam)

Looks like Flynt believes Lott was having an affair to me - why else would Hustler stick up for the credibility of a blog?

16. the hustler response has "lawyer-drafted" all over it
If Flynt's investigation really had produced evidence of a Lott/escort connection, he'd say so. IMO, FLynt is trying to leave the impression that hustler was involved in forcing Lott out but doing so in a way that protects Flynt from libel charges. In other words, at this point, I see no reason to believe that Flynt has anything.
