John Edwards, in dead heat in Iowa, quietly starts to move up in NH and SC
Edited on Wed Nov-28-07 09:59 PM by jsamuel
South Carolina
Democrats: August November percent Change
1. Hillary Clinton 26 percent 19 percent -7 percent
2. Barack Obama 16 percent 17 percent +1 percent
3. John Edwards 10 percent 12 percent +2 percent

John Edwards moves from behind by 16 points to behind by 7 in South Carolina.
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/docs/newNovember_Palmetto_Poll-3.html

New Hampshire
Candidate November June
Clinton 34 37
Obama 22 19
Edwards 15 9

John Edwards moves from behind by 28 to behind 19.
http://www.mydd.com/story/2007/11/28/15213/116

These numbers make an Iowa win for Edwards much more likely to catapult him to the leader in the first states. But, shhhh, don't tell anyone.

of his nomination?? I KNOW the "fix" is in when you're talking D.C. Elites, they don't want him there and I have no doubt that there's a LOT of PUSH by some really BIG Jerks with LOTS and LOTS of moolah doing their best to run him down!!

I'm doing what I can for him locally and maybe I can find other ways to get his message out, but this county is lame when it comes to Democrats. Many Dems just aren't organized very much!!!

19. Ahh....here's the rub...
"The number of undecided voters went up from the last poll in August to November, with some 28 percent of the Republicans and 49 percent of the Democrats saying that they had not made up their mind. Importantly, the Palmetto Poll asked respondents if they were likely to stay with the person they choose of “change their mind: between now and January. About 65 percent of the Republicans and 51 percent of the Democrats said they were likely to change their mind before the election in January."

81. No, Dean was not exactly a liberal.
He was a social liberal and a fiscal conservative. We see what happens when we let fiscal liberals run the country. We have a $9 trillion deficit, approved by the corporate wing of the Democratic party, so that prevents us from funding our dear social programs.

So, a fiscal conservative is actually a social liberal in the long run. Of course part of being a social liberal and fiscal conservative is being against senseless wars like Iraq. Not only are they unjust, but the staggering cost of $3.5 trillion will eventually prevent us from having single payer health insurance and fully funded social security.

I'll take our A bond rating that Dean left us with in Vermont.

Edwards seems to be the most anti-corporate candidate, after Kucinich that is. Does he play politics? Don't they all, except for Kucinch? He and Gravel are the only truly honest ones. Edwards is the next best choice in my opinion after Kucinich. He's the populist of 2008.

43. John Edwards Is Our Only Hope
Wake up America. The reason John Edwards is not getting any Media coverage is because the Republicans do not want him as a Presidential Candidate! They would much rather have a first time go with a Woman Or Black Democratic Candidate. There is a HUGE Middle America out there. Unfortunately, I think, America is not quite ready for this kind of change in this kind of Political climate. Karl Rove is snickering. Can't anyone else hear it?
The most important thing in the next Presidential Race is to vote out the current ruling party. IF, our votes will count this time, it has to be a complete, overwhelming victory. We can't have the petty prejudices of this great country polarizing the election. As I said before, I want a candidate that the Republicans will fear. They are salivating and hoping one of the current top 2 will get the Democratic Nomination and propel this prophecy to a lost Democratic election. John Edwards is the man that can do it!

It sucks, but it's too much of a risk to put up either Obama or Hilary as a candidate. Too many people hate her and not enough swing voters would be prepared to vote for a black candidate.

hand, CNN interviewed some "undecided" Republicans after the debate it sponsored tonight, and the first person they interviewed was asked who she'd vote for after watching the Republican candidates debate, and she shocked the shit out of CNN by saying: "JOHN EDWARDS". That's not only a reflection on what a bunch of jerkoff idiots the Republican candidates are, but a reflection that Edwards has a broader appeal than he's been given credit for.

Just spent TG with my immediate family for the first time seeing them in 5 years. My mother is so brainwashed by FOX noise that she cannot be recovered. My Dad is more approachable, but he is borderline senile. In his lucid moments, he gets my issues. But he has moments/episodes that freak us all out.

Anyway, I trust either an Edwards or Kucinich ticket for real change. I don't foresee any radical change coming from any of the other Democratic candidates. That's just my opinion. Amerika has been told otherwise.

I really can't see Edwards being able to take even a convincing victory in Iowa to suddenly pool together a nationwide organization in a few weeks. He doesn't even have a presence in huge states like California, which require alot of coordination.

65. Even as a Kucinich supporter...
I believe that JE has the best chance to win not only our party's nomination, but the GE as well.

Sadly, DK has not the deep enough pockets or the M$M buy in to compete nationally. Hillary is starting to fade (thankfully) and I think John will be the surprise winner in Iowa.

Next to Gore/Kucinich - John has been my best compromise vote. If he ended up with our nomination, I'd work on his behalf without hesitation.

68. If DK does not win the primary, I sincerely hope that John Edwards
does.

Other options could be a disaster for our party and our country.

3-way Democratic dead heat in Iowa

Tied, that is, if you take the margin of error into account.

89. Why Edwards will lose
I am most likely going to vote for John Edwards, but sadly I think he will lose early in the race. This past summer I went to see him speak, I volunteered for his campaign by signing some clipboard being held by a volunteer. After not hearing anything I volunteered again, and then for a third time. I received 1 e-mail from his campaign asking for help in New Hampshire. It did not list dates, times, or events, just mentioned they would need help in New Hampshire in the next few weeks. (I'm from Massachusetts). I e-mailed back requesting some dates, times, etc, and then I received no more e-mails from the campaign ever, this was even after I stated that my girlfriend goes to University of New Hampshire and we know quite a few College Democrats who could volunteer. Meanwhile, I never volunteered for Hilary's campaign, I receive e-mails from her on a regular basis, robo-phone calls, and letters through the mail. With all due respect to Edwards, if you can't run a campaign how can you run the country. I'll still vote for him because he represents what I feel are the core values of the party, but he will not win sadly.

Tons of info here:

To volunteer, sign up here:

To spend your winter break in NH:

Volunteers will be needed the most down the stretch, not so much in the summer.
