realize that moderation, as it seems to be defined by every administration since 1967, is a willingness to accept Israel's right to exist...
Other than that, anything goes...
Radical Islamic fundamentalism runs rampant in several of the countries that are considered "moderate" meaning they have become less bellicose over Israel and the Palestinian problem...
Think about it...
The three main boogie men in the Middle East when Bush took office where Iran, Syria and Iraq...
We took out Saddam and turned that enemy of Israel inward...
We get Syria to attended a photo op session...
And beg Saudi Arabia to send a sheik or two to the party...
It's not that I think the survival of Israel is not important...
But is Washington giving cover to all sorts of human rights abuse and terrorism exports throughout the Middle East just to try an isolate Iran...
Do they really think that Saudi Arabia will suddenly recognize Israel and Syria will cede the Golan Heights to Israel and that Lebanon will blossom once again...
Or was this all a cynical attempt by Bush, with the help of his Saudi friends who, BTW, are co-investors in the Carlye Group, to puff up his tarnished legacy...
The question we should be asking is what price peace...
And does any of this really make Israel safer...
