My request for knowledge about Obama on the Virginia PDA board was met with this:
It is not a rational choice. This is politics. I think I know what you are feeling though. I am confused this year because the Dem's seem to have multiple good candidates. Perhaps it is the context, we seem to be up to our necks in a cesspool and from that view of the world a lot of things can look more pleasant.
And this was my answer:
I disagree. It has to be a rational choice. For it not to be is folly. That's how the Republicans choose their candidates, by emotion. I refuse to do so. This is no reflection on Obama. I actually posed this question on Democratic Underground and among the thousands of possible replies, I got someone who mentioned that Obama was a Constitutional scholar. I will consider that argument because it was dispassionately raised with intelligent arguments. Look, this is a critical issue. We have a number of candidates to choose from. It is more important that we choose in a process that is dispassionate and reflective of who would actually make the best leader of our nation. I don't know the answer, but I'm trying to frame the question. With kind regards,
