Hey, Guys, It's All Good!
No matter which of our fine candidates winds up being the nominee, let’s keep in mind the current POTUS – and remember that there’s nowhere to go but UP:

All of the Democratic candidates can speak English – fluently!

All of the Democratic candidates are able to read and write – and well beyond a fourth-grade level!

None of the Democratic candidates have ever attempted to find oil in Texas – and failed!

None of the Democratic candidates laugh or giggle when they talk about things like people dying – or the possibility of World War III!

None of the Democratic candidates comes back from a vacation with bruises, scratches – or any other injuries associated with having been falling-down-drunk while they were away!

All of the Democratic candidates know that the earth is more than six thousand years old – and round!

All of the Democratic candidates can pronounce the names of foreign countries – without having to have them written out phonetically!

None of the Democratic candidates have ever been AWOL from military duty – and had to have their records ‘go missing’ in order to cover it up!

None of the Democratic candidates are universally recognized for their famous smirk – nor have any of them been scientifically scrutinized for their uncanny resemblance to lower primates!

All of the Democratic candidates can articulately respond to questions on the issues – and without electronic devices hidden in their jackets!

All of the Democratic candidates are fully cognizant of the Constitution – and are actually intellectually capable of reading it all by themselves!

None of the Democratic candidates rely on people like Bill Kristol for advice – or his uncanny ability to accurately predict the future!

None of the Democratic candidates have had move heaven and earth in order to hide their relationship with people like Jack Abramoff – or Jeff Gannon!

None of the Democratic candidates are the least bit interested in how The Pet Goat ended – and wouldn’t use an attack on US soil as the appropriate time to find out!

All of the Democratic candidates know the difference between a deficit and a surplus – and they don’t have to take off their shoes in order to count as high as twenty!

All of the Democratic candidates are willing and able to swear to uphold the Constitution – and none of them will have to cross their fingers behind their back when they do so!

All of the Democratic candidates are capable of being duly elected – and won’t have to rely on their daddy’s buddies on the Supreme Court to select them!

Good luck to all of our fine candidates – all of whom are actually capable of leading our nation, as opposed to the Idiot who’s been in charge for the last seven years!

during this election season, we need to lay down our priorities so that whichever candidate is chosen, they know what progressive, liberal people in the party want. And we need to keep pressing these issues.

But it's your last observation, that all of the Democratic candidates are "capable of leading our nation" that properly puts every one of them head and shoulders above the GOP crowd. So, when the primaries are over, let's all remember that it is by several orders of magnitude that the "worst" Democrat is better than the best Republican.

30. Sorry to be a spoilsport, but it's not OK.
Not that I don't like Obama, just that I really feel the country needs John Edwards in 2008, and I don't think Obama can win in November. It's too soon for him.

It's not all the same. We saw that in 2004. Obama = Kerry. Middle of the road, nice and compromising.

45. It's the loss of the best chance we have.
We are going to have to work hard to win California for Edwards. We need to double our efforts for Super Tuesday. And Edwards' campaign is strictly grassroots. We have to buy our own bumper stickers and buttons and yard signs. I print out the handouts on my home printer -- and I only have black and white. We stand on street corners. Obama and Hillary have money coming out of their ears -- from the pharmaceutical companies, from the health insurance companies, from the corporate lobbyists.

When you consider how limited Edwards' resources have been compared to Hillary's or Obama's, he really won. And he showed how well he can manage money. I would really like to see him as the next president. I feel that more strongly than ever. It is not all the same. There is only one chance. There is only one Edwards. You are right about Kerry, and look how we have paid for Kerry's "loss" if he did lose.

41. Obama = Kerry
Not even close.

I don't think people really care as much about how many years in the government you have but whether or not you are smart and have a different vision for the future. We've had years of people running things who have had 'eperience' but absolutely no vision past the pocetboods of their supporters and that damn fear card.

Besides, it's not like Edwards has all that much 'experience' either. I like Edwards. Obama wasn't even my firsst choice but I can get behind giving someone with passion and vision a chance. This country needs a new beginning. IF Obama is that beginning, I'll support it.

44. I don't dislike Obama, but I don't see that he has much vision, frankly.
I can see that Edwards has a clear vision and knows what he will do in the White House. He can tell you exactly what he will do if X happens. I've seen him respond to the questions of Iowans who asked him for example, how do you plan to actually get your health care plan enacted. He said quite precisely that he would call the congressional leaders to the White House, tell them to bring him ideas about a health care plan and then go out on the White House law, tell the American people we need a plan and he needs their support. He said, I will tell the American people that tomorrow they are going to start seeing ads on the TV that criticize my health care plan, and I will tell the American people to ask themselves who is paying for the ads.

Now that is vision. Edwards knows what he will do. He knows what the reaction will be to it. And he can tell you what he will do next. Again, that is vision.

Obama is a deer in the headlghts compared to that. A lovable deer with a good heart and soul, but not a deer that sees clearly in spite of the glare and that knows what he will do when the light is blinding. That's why I prefer Edwards and don't get the appeal of Obama.

46. Obama's vision
To me Obama's vision goes like this: we take the Republicans and the Fundis and we sit them down and let them hash out gay rights among them, with maybe one lesbian on the panel too. Got to respect all points of view, even those whose views are bigoted, for as Obama says about religious bigots, they are 'good, decent, moral people'.
And now that McClurkin has ruled on my family not being a family, Obama is now free to sit down with the Republicans, the Fundies, Insurance Cos, and Big Pharma to hash out how much birth control and sex education and hiv pervention will be allowed under the 'health plan'. I guess Obama's supporters figure McClurkin and the Fundies will go for paying for abortions? Yeah.
Vision that means others will determine my legal standing as a household, while at the same time the cost of the 'health plan' is determined by legal household income? Looks to me like the vision of Obama and his Fundi base will bring my family to its kneees as we pay income tax as singles, pay health insurance as singles, and if we don't buy the plan we get fined more money we don't have, or maybe face jail.
A vision that enshrines bigotry to please various religious elements is dangerous. A candidate that wants to have 'universal' anything first must have universal equality.
Obama supporters need to ask that candidate how much power he will give the McClurkinites in determining my rights, my insurance premiums. Ask him if birth control coverage is a negotialble thing. Ask him flat out if he intends to treat gay people diffenetly and charge us more just to please his base. Very much like a real Republican, I feel that under Obama's vision my rights and my money will be up for grabs without me or mine having any say whatsoever about it. Dobson and McClurkin and Humana get a say. Gays will get taxation without representation. Unequal rights and unequal treatment.
And trust me, it is not just gays that McClurkinites oppose. It is you childless hetro couples, so selfish and sinful. It is you pro-'choice' people who they know are murderers. It is those who wish to teach prevention of pregnancy and disease. Donnie McClurkin says you are a murderer, and Obama says Donnie is good and decent. Chew on that.
Fundimentalism- it is not just for Republicans and Gays anymore!
If you love Donie McClurkin, Dr Dobson must also be a huge favorite! Check out Pat Robetson too, McClurkin is often on 700 Club talking about how gays are out to kill children. Obama says he's a good person. Dig that. Really think about it.
There is no difference between Dobson and McClurkin. Except that Democrats seem to give McClurkin a pass.
