Ignore the spin that this was a close race or "basically a three way tie"
A (as of this moment) six point differential is a "big win" for Obama.

1. No one is saying that it was a three-way tie.
Except for you. A common theme, actually.

13. Looks like a three way tie to me with one eeking out a narrow victory

16. When is six points in an eight person race eeking out a narrow victory?
People have claimed mandates on less.

18. I'm not saying it's not a win, but it's hardly decisive
Edited on Thu Jan-03-08 10:00 PM by DinoBoy
When the race is forced by bizarre rules to be a three person race, and each person gets roughly one third, it's a narrow victory. If Obama had won with numbers mirroring those of the GOP, that would have been decisive. This just isn't.

ON EDIT: On seeing revised numbers from the NYT, Obama's win is looking more like decisive (though still.....) and less like the lucky winner in a three way tie.
